Cause and Prevention of Rape and Sex Assault When we talk about crimes they are unlimited for example kidnapping, burglary, murder, assault, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft and many more. It is said that the most widely crime that is spreading in today’s society is Rape and Sexual Assault. The first anti-rape movement was established in 1972, in San Francisco in California and Washington, D.C. The main goal was to educate people about rape and its prevention and to help the victims with a better a treatment. Some of its major goals include better understanding of the scope and the impact of rape, improvement of medical services; improvements in criminal justice official treat victims and so on. Besides these goals there are many other major goals and much more to be done which is in process. Rape is a crime that is defined as an unwanted sexual act that results in oral, vaginal, or anal penetration. Mainly there are 2 major types of rape one of them is forcible rape involves unwanted sexual penetration obtained by the use of force or threat of force. And the second one is Drug or alcohol rape which occurs when the victim is passed out or highly intoxicated because of voluntary or involuntary consumption of alcohol or drugs. Before 1960’s the legal definition of rape is “A carnal knowledge of a women not ones wife by force or against her will.” According to the south Africa the definition of rapeis defined as” … namely non-consensual penetration of a vagina by a penis—should be extended to include anal penetration of both female and male victims” (Bonthuys) Rape is the top most crime which is mostly unreported and the reason for this is that people are scared to come forward.
