Phineas is an influential, charming figure, and a genuine good guy. He inspires in Gene loyalty and jealousy at the same time. In his head, Gene creates Phineas as his enemy and thinks that Phineas resents him for his academic success. However, the reader soon realizes that in fact, it is Gene who resents Phineas for the lack of resentment he has toward Gene. Because the novel was set in the early years of World War II, a major theme throughout the story is war.
This is reflected in hes actions as an adult because as an adult he had reversed the roles, he was now acting out as the molester. Gacy was labelled as sociopathic and according to Sam Duncan & Jack Lenz a socio path is ; breaking the rules and laws, takes advantage of other people for personal gain, feels little remorse or guilt, appears friendly and charming on the surface and is often intelligent. This definition clearly fits Gacy personality perfectly because he often enticed young boys to take a ride with him taking advantage of their trust for he’s personal gain. Everyone who knew him thought him to be a likable friendly person but that was only on the outside. He was good at deceiving people and he’s neighbor’s trusted him enough to spend Christmas and holidays with him, even went as far as saying he was a very intelligent
The reason that he was more of a partner between those years was due to him being able to please the King in any way from allowing the young King to enjoy and indulge himself in Hunting, sports and drinking whereas many of his other advisors told him to be more like his father. Also what helped Wolsey to become more of a partner was that of him being able to change his opinion to suit that of the King even if he felt strongly against what the King wished. Due to these things ‘Wolsey enjoyed a uniquely privileged access to the king’, which again suggests that he was a partner due to no one else getting to see the King as much as he did. Source 6 benefits from hindsight from which it can evaluate all of the events from the time from which it can give an overall opinion of whether Wolsey was more of a partner then a servant. The fact that it wasn’t written at the time helps its reliability as its judgement is not blinded by the fact that people who wrote about Wolsey from the time were those who either worked for Wolsey or those who worked for people who hated Wolsey and those who just despised him for example John Skelton and Polydore Vergil.
In terms of the requirements of freedom, man would rather “choose his slavery and pay it homage”. Man would rather accept their role in society and respect their role in society than to live through freedom’s requirements. The requirements of freedom are “silence, strength, the death of empty alliance, and an end to ego baths.” This says that one needs tobe quiet, but at the same time needs to have a stong soul because maintaining freedom is not easy. The best way to have freedom is to live through society’s response because of the difference between them and you. Also “empty alliances” refers to how when confrormed into a society, people are unified, but it is empty because there is no real meaning to the unity of society because peple want to be with other people.
I consider this scene the most suspenseful scene and after the city have been bombed, Montag and his new friends go in search of survivors to create a new and knowledge filled society. This created a rather satisfying ending because not only did I feel like the entire plot could actually happen in real life but that Montag`s personality would be to save those that he could and make a better life for them. Montag`s personality could be described as rash, inarticulate, self-obsessed, and too easily swayed. At times he is not even aware of why he does things, feeling that his
Huck is closest related to Montag because of the way that they want to break away from society and learn things on their own. Captain Beatty is like Miss Watson because they are both a hypocritical part of these two novels. There are other like character but the similarities are minor and thus might just be coincidental. But the aforementioned characters also stand as symbols for ideas. Huck and Montag stand for freedom and self-reliance because they search for what is right within themselves and not what the rest do.
He thinks as people get old or grows up, they change and lose their innocence. One of the many reasons for his affection and love towards little children, because he thinks their innocent compare to the grown-ups. One thing for sure is that, Holden wants to be successful as well anyone. "I’m always saying ‘Glad to’ve met you’ to someone I’m not at all glad I met. If you want to stay alive, you have to say that stuff, though."
This book will be an eye-opener to many people as the story is told from an African-American standpoint. Dickey does not sugarcoat the prejudice facing those who dare to cross the color line, but he also illustrates the true rewards of following your heart, and shows that love is stronger than betrayal, racism, and any other seemingly impossible
Defeating a foe in combat gives Bilbo a taste of the confidence that he has not previously had, making him feel “much fiercer and bolder in spite of an empty stomach.” From this point forward, Bilbo shows that he is capable of taking the lead and acting in the best interests of the company rather than his own self. The Hero’s journey makes ‘The Hobbit’ stimulating because it shows that small people can make a difference in the world if they
He seems to dream of crossing the class line into a higher status, free of the oppressiveness of his own life. He is also very imaginative about other aspects of his life, apparent from his fantasy about Queenie’s parents’ party, his thoughts on what the customers think about, and his descriptions of the things he observes. His daydreaming is a result of the boredom he feels. It serves as an escape for
