And the best part to him would probably be the fact that every time he returns, there is something else that will trigger a memory he had never thought of. He loves the fact that once he goes to that one place as a child, all of a sudden he remembers exactly what he used to do there and who he were with. And maybe even the littlest detail could come across his mind and really the smallest details is what makes up the most wonderful memories. White explains that “it is strange how much you can remember about places like that once you allow your mind to return into the grooves that lead back.” Without details, what else could trigger those memories? Second, White mentions many of the things he would do at the lake as a child and so these are the things his son also loves to do.
"Sandcastles" by Jesus Hardwell The setting of "Sandcastles" by Jesus Hardwell takes place in the summer of a remote crescent shaped beach. Three best friends ran, played, and explored, as they had nowhere else to be. When one thinks of a beach setting like this one, it brings about happy thoughts of relaxation, children laughing, playing in the surf and sand. When the boys run into a strange woman on a remote stretch of the beach, who has a darker plan for herself that day, the woman deceives the boys into helping her to ultimately end her life. The setting of the story is connected to theme loss of innocence.
As a child, every fall, my parents would take me and my siblings camping. Dad worked a lot, so we counted down the days of summer, until we got to be together. Every breath I took was like I was inhaling my childhood. I could hear the waves bouncing off the rocks as we sat on the patio and had lunch. The smell of the water and the warmth that touched my skin, when the sun peeked through the clouds, took me back in time to the campground.

As they arrive to the camp site, the instructor informs them that she has a few rules that she would like to go over before they start their camp activities. (As the bus pulls up, kids are unloading, very excited!) Instructor “Good afternoon happy campers and welcome to Camp Canoe Lake. I know you are all excited and here for fun but, there are a few rules that we all need to know to assure that your visit at Canoe Lake is a safe and fun trip.” Nurse “Yes, safety is the key” 8th grade girl (Jumping up and down) “Okay already, I want to go have fun.” 8th grade boy (Giving high fives to the girl) “That’s right we are ready for fun!” Instructor “Okay, okay, if you listen to a few rules and be very careful, all of you will definitely have fun.
They keep trying. They don’t give up”. The father was trying to reinforce his son’s faith in him and to never give up on life but there will be a brighter future ahead. They’re relationship can be related to the faith in each other and God as that is what builds their foundation and gives them meaning for
When the bus moved, I was saying to my youth pastor that this was my first time going to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA! So, then she said(laughing), ”There are rides that are extreme and rides that will make you pee your pants!” We got there a little early, so we had to wait in line because the parking lot wasn’t open yet.
A Modest Proposal For Reducing Truancy Imagine a world where there is perfect attendance, outstanding achievements for every student and the ability to be anywhere at any given time with no problems. Unfortunately the reality is far from just that, many students are forced to miss school at a very early age due to the lack of discipline in their home lives. A few blocks over from the school a curly blonde headed little girl, sits and stares out the window tears filling her big blue eyes as she sits watching the children run and play on the play ground. Knowing that she has the drive, desire and determination to be a perfect student, but her reality is very far from that. Her parents are avid drug addicts and alcoholics who will not lay the bottle down long enough to see that she gets a bath at night and that her homework is done.
Going to Mindo for the first time is a phenomenal encounter. The children there are innocent and happy all the of time. The way they bombard you with hugs that first day as you get off the bus is overwhelming. I remember thinking to myself, “Who is this little girl that has finished running up to me and giving me a gigantic hug?” Back in Miami, no one goes around giving random hugs to people. So, that little girl and the rest of the children caught me off guard.
I am so very excited to see them excel in school. My little Evie is three and all she talks about is school, how she cannot wait to go and truthfully I can’t wait for her to go either. You see, once my girls are in school I will be able to go back to work and have adult conversations on a regular basis again. My days of changing dirty diapers, potty training, and watching cartoons all day will be behind me. Then I read the part of Welty’s story where Phoenix has to cross the creek and she said “Now comes the trial”.
Going to school later would result in having many amazing benefits. Many kids take the bus to school and complain about the traffic the highway and even on main streets. Kids have to get up really early to catch the bus and sit in traffic because other adults are trying to go to work. If school did start and end later, the bus would not hit morning rush hour traffic or afternoon rush hour traffic. With school starting later, the bus schedule can make a tremendous change.
