Today I am going to talk about population control, but first of all, I’d like to clarify some concepts to you all. Let’s start with overpopulation. This goes by the hand of population control, but a lot of people don’t really understand the concept. Most people think it has to do with capacity and that if the number of people keeps growing, there won’t be enough space for us to live in this planet. But that is not the real concept of it, in reality; overpopulation refers to when the resources of our planet aren’t enough for the amount of people living in it. Right now our population is of 7 billion people, and as an estimation made says, only one tenth of them can supply their needs. That number is growing out of control every day and that’s why we need a “control”, a population control. That’s another concept we have to clarify now. In essence, it is the use of government power to encourage or motivate restrictions or effective actions on the population growth, or on the number of people in existence. This is something that has not been taken very seriously by most countries, leading the birth rate to increase, because people in some countries still consider their kids as the future earners of the family; and the death rate to decrease, because of the many medical facilities of now a days. Our numbers continue to rise dramatically, and I consider that a fact to slowly start using a worldwide population control policy. On the other hand, others point out the obvious moral and human right issues. Yes, it is true that population control is very delicate since it has implications on sociology, the environment, philosophy, family, politics, religion, sexuality, individual rights, and many more, but at the end, most of those implications are positive. Also, we have to think on the next generations. They are our and the earth’s future, and if we don’t do something
