Playing Sports During high school I was involved in two different sports. They were volleyball and basketball. It was the only time I could really spend with my friends, but it also made me a much better person inside. Getting ready for the game was the best. I was on a high out of this world; wondering if we were going to win or lose. It was the greatest experience of my life. Before sports, I hardly cared about how my image or grades looked to anybody. Because of my attitude my parents were constantly upset with me and I hardly had any friends. Being part of a team made me feel like I was setting examples for other kids my age. I felt a dedication like no other. Playing sports made me become more involved with community activities such as barbecues, church gatherings, and fundraisers. My grades improved from very low to very high and my parents and I actually started to get along better. I used to intentionally be mean so I could get out of class, but it caused major problems at home. So, joining sports was an improvement for me and kept me out of trouble. I didn’t hang around troubled teenagers like before. I also never got involved with drugs and alcohol. I had something to look forward to. I felt needed and wanted by others. My relationships with my teachers were outstanding. I became friends with people I thought I would never hang with. It was a high I never wanted to end. I have several family members that are overweight and unhealthy. I was just destined to be the same. I believe that not setting at home helped me avoid the health issues. Sports in schools are a great way to get exercise. Now day’s kids sit at home and play video games or watch television. Playing sports helped me keep in shape and let me get a lot of energy out. Even today I don’t like to sit inside the house. It
