Case Study A. Pine valley organized the company into functional areas such manufacturing, sales, orders, accounting, and purchasing. In order to stay on pace with the rapid expand; they installed a minicomputer to automate applications. Then in effort to improve their information systems, they created a company-wide database and applications that work with in the system that they have already established. This system was a process-oriented approach that separated the applications and created its own data files. I believe that the company chose this option because they saw that keeping the system as it was originally would not work as the company grew. The truth is when a company grows, so will systems. This is why making a company wide data base is very helpful. It can keep everything organized and make sure everything is very easy and understandable. I think as of right now this is the best suited structure for a company with only fifty employees or more. No need to make it complex. B. The primary features of enterprise-wide systems are to support many different tasks in an organization rather than only one or two functions. It also helps manage different independent tasks at the same time such as HRM duties: human resources management, payroll, benefits, and retirement functions within a single, integrated system. The major roll of an enterprise-wide system to create an alternative to creating systems in-house and also reduce the cost of maintaining the systems. C. Systems Analyst Primary job is to be responsible for the operating system and associated subsystems. Provide system-level support of multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of these systems.
