My chosen profession is a pharmacist. A pharmacist is a person prepared to formulate, dispense, and provide clinical information on drugs or medications to health professionals and patients. Through completion of a university program in pharmacy of at least 4 years' duration and passing state and federal licensure exams one can become a licenses pharmacist. As a pharmacist one must possess a love to help people of all different backgrounds. This person has to have effective communication skills and has the ability to relate to everyone on any level. This understanding has to extend to both the doctor, who is giving instructions about various medications, and the patient who is receiving the instructions so that they understand their medications. I have always been an empathetic person. I will celebrate accomplishments and cry over losses with complete strangers. I love to help people and I believe that if I can reach one person then my journey will not have been in vain. After taking the assessment, my three highest scores were Investigative with a 36, Social with a 26 and Enterprising with a 30, all three are very important the qualities needed in a pharmacist. My three lowest scores were Realistic with a 4, Artistic with a 22, and Conventional with a 21. In USA Today, the top ten skills needed to be a pharmacist were memorization, attention to detail, strong math and science skills, preparing drugs, drug knowledge and assessment, working with people, supervising others, computer literacy, specialty training and teaching. My top assessment score was Investigative which is a part of the memorization and attention to detail category. Investigative is defined as, to search out and examine the particulars of in an attempt to learn the facts about something hidden, unique, or complex. I love searching out answers and researching topics for myself. I do
