CRN:23166 Going to high school is an experience, because walking into any high school for most teenagers is like walking into another world. In one’s opinion high school could be considered a metaphor for the real world because school is a subculture in itself. The text book attests that, “While in school, young people acquire identities and learn patterns of behavior…exposed to a hierarchical, bureaucratic environment...[and schools] emphasize conformity to societal needs...” (Margaret L. Anderson, 2008). Choosing The Breakfast Club to analyze social inequality seemed like a perfect example to write about. The movie explores the relationship amongst high school students who are socially separated, are forced together and find that they had more in common than they initially thought.
It also can make it easier than in the past for a student who switches schools, because now schools broadly have to follow a similar curriculum. The national curriculum was introduced to enable assessment, which also helped to compile league tables. League tables (1988 education act) are another change that has helped the education system. League tables are used to compare the academic achievements of different institutions and parents can use them to decide which school they want their child(ren) to go to. Using league tables is a good thing as if you want your child to go to a good school, you can chose the one most suitable with good education and exam results.
Agree with the question Paragraph 2 On one hand sociologists would agree that a pupil’s home situation is more important than the type of school they attend. Parents who get involved in the students education by showing an interest and helping with homework are more likely to encourage a child to do well at school. Parental influence can affect someone’s educational achievement as if a student’s parent hated school as a child and didn’t get the grades they needed, it can cause the student to act the same. On the other hand it could cause them to progress better in school as they will want to achieve more than their parents Marxists believe students who come from a working class background tend to do worse than students who come from a high class background; this could be because of material deprivation. Critical Analysis In “The War Against Boys” the author, Christina Hoff Sommers, stated that times are changing and boys should “watch out” in school. She states that girls are starting to be more benefited in school then boys in the educational system, that girl aren’t considered the “second” sex anymore, and that girls are statistically better than boys in academics. I personally agree that times are changing and that boys aren’t getting any special treatment and girls are on the same level as boys, and that they also are better in school then most boys. This to me has a lot to do with that growth gap that there is between both genders, girls start developing at a much earlier age then us, thus letting them learn things at a much faster rate
She explains how her son’s English teacher with unusual way instead of moving him to front row made him to be more serious about learning and specific English .The result was unbelievable, he finished that class with A grade .First Sherry was shocked when the teacher said “I flunk them” then she realized that would be helpful for her son. Usually having mingled classes with both male and female is a good part of the college experience since it gives the opportunity to expand a persons social circle and gives the chance to intermingle with the opposite sex. Some students have come from all boy and all girl high schools, which they may not of experienced the opportunity to socialize and talk with the opposite sex. Saying all of this, I am against the Anti Co-Mingling Legislation because I believe that socialization with the opposite sex will help later in life, having the opposite sex in a classroom does
College Decisions For a graduating senior in high school, the most important decision they have to make is about which college to spend the next four, or maybe more years of their life attending. I know that when I was trying to make by college decision I had to research, visit, and compare and contrast all the schools that I liked. It came down to two very excellent, but very different schools. I fell in love with, and got accepted to Saint Leo University, and Boston College. My deciding factors on which school was better for me to attend included location, class size, and price.
