Accepting change is one of the most important parts of aging. Knowing that changes occur in every stage of development and these changes that are taking place must be looked at as a result of the specific situation surrounding them. There are many characteristics that describe what human development is. It is lifelong and lasting and is not subject to any age period. The perspective on life is made up with physical, cognitive, and social domains. An individual will continue to respond and act on their background, which include a person's biological makeup, physical environment, social, and cultural contexts. There are three key developmental domains in the lifespan perspective. There is the physical domain, which deals with the physical changes that an individual goes through. This would be the height, weight, and puberty. These are the physical changes that can be recognized within this physical domain. Changes in an individual’s observation and how he or she looks at the world can be categorized in the physical also. The cognitive domain deals with issues like thinking, making daily decisions, and the memory. Last, is the social domain, this includes changes in variables that are connected with relationships with others. Behavior genetics is also related to lifespan perspective. The heart of behavior genetics is the effect of heredity between individuals. This is when traits and/or behaviors are passed down from one relative to another. It is believed that individuals that are related share more of the same traits and behaviors than those that are not related to one another. Everyone goes through changes from conception and birth until we die. I do not think anyone remembers their own prenatal development or birth, but we do remember the changes that occur during our early, middle, and late adulthood years.
