Personal Development Plan Name: Course: Instructor: Date: Personal Development Plan (PDP) The words are synonymous to the plan of action; it’s only that personal development plan (PDP) is more geared towards ambitions regarding personal growth and progress. Planning helps an individual to set his/her own personal goals and finds a main mechanism of achieving those goals. It should be a running document which should be reviewed regularly in order to achieve accurate, realistic and pertinent outcomes. A personal/individual development plan is a crucial part in career development. The overall career planning process dictates for regular updates and revisal of the personal activities (Rosenmarkle, 2013). It should be a routine activity conducted by an individual for the sake of his/her career planning. As we all have unique developmental needs in our own careers; it is paramount for one to develop a feasible plan that will address both the short-term and long-term career objectives and goals. In this respect, creating an effective and a skillful personal development plan will assist a person to identify and clarify the specific goals one is determined to achieve within a particular period of time. Adequate brainstorming and evaluation of the content within the plan is essential. This will help a person to start preparing and creating a development plan that is SMART (i.e. Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time bound) (Aguinis, 2013). Content of the plan Even though there is no best model of preparing a PDP, it is important for one to create a plan that is feasible and practical.
