For the last eighteen years, my mother has provided me with unbridled love, immeasurable courage, and unfaltering support. The bond my mother and I share is unbreakable. She has always been easy to talk to, has never judged me, and has guided me every step of the way. For as long as I can remember, my mother has believed in me wholeheartedly and has allowed me to be who I am. My mother always encouraged me in both my academic and sports pursuits. My father spends more time traveling than he does at home, so my mother has driven me to and from school every single day of my life, cared for me when I was sick, and celebrated every birthday with me. I now understand how important a solid foundation of support can be to an individual. In the same way that she has helped me, I hope to help others with difficult assignments, uncomfortable situations with friends, and the importance of sorting colors when following laundry rules. Her ideals and values have been my guiding light, helping me to navigate through my journey from a young boy to a young man. Friends may come and go but family members are forever, especially the annoying ones which I am sure I have been at times. Acceptance is the key, cooperation is an essential element, and security is eternal—these are the basic principles that enable families to enjoy the good times and survive the bad ones. Even if I no longer live at home I know my family will be there for me and I will be there for them when they need me. The best thing about my mother is that she can be so annoying sometimes. She aggravates me about my grades, she pushes me to excel in everything I do, and she expects me to respect myself and others. She has shown me by her example that hard work never killed anybody.
