Roosevelt was all about the people. He believed the one thing that can save a nation was the people of the nation itself. That’s why during the WW2, Franklin D Roosevelt spoke constantly on the radio, reporting war events and rallying the American people in support of the war effort. This was beneficial for the people and himself as raising the people’s hope gave him motivation to do better. Franklin D Roosevelt was very clever in a sense.

General Douglas MacArthur, though egotistical and very controversial, was nevertheless one of the greatest military leaders in World War II and of all American history. General MacArthur cared for his men and believed proper and thorough planning saved lives and it did. The cost of victory was indeed appalling, but Haig’s military methods were in line with the ideas of the time, when attrition was the method all sides used to achieve victory. Even though his plan wasn’t very pleasant, I believe he had the best intentions for his soldiers and you have to admit we can’t complain about the outcome of World War 1.
