People need formal English Xun Wang Nowadays, as ‘Thx for the IView! I Wud ♥ to Work 4 U!! ;)’ claimed, most of employers do not appreciate job hunters use shorthand in messages for applying jobs. We need to relax ourselves after one-day hard work, and we may just wear casual clothes instead of uniforms. Language is comparable to our life, when we want to write formal mails, we use formal language; when we just talk with our friends, we can use any language we want. Therefore, in my opinion, what Carlos Castillo commented in ‘Txtlanguage’ is suspicious. First of all, Carlos mentioned that people are stubborn because they do not accept new language. Also, he took metric system for example. As everyone knows, metric system is a kind of international measure system. Nearly every person learns what metric system is, because metric system is so international that everybody is using it in common life, though every country may have its own measure system. If we discard metric system, it will be inconvenient in our common lives. In addition, Carlos believed that ‘How are you?’ could be transformed to ‘How r u?’ , as ‘How art thou?’ had been changed to ‘How are you?’ . We live in a diverse international world, unlike Shakespeare, however. English is and continues to be the most important tool of language, perhaps just a small change influences many contracts in international businesses. Meanwhile, Carlos also hoped that txtlanguage could be a total new language some day. He thought txtlanguage is easier and more efficient. Nonetheless, it may be more difficult for people to know the meaning of txtword. For instance, ‘2nite’ which is ‘tonight’, people must learn how to pronounce 2 or two first, it is more complicated for foreign people to study English.
