The pencil holder that we had to manufacture as an element in our assessment contributed to a small percentage of my grade. It was my most enjoyable job in term two. I am currently using it as a stationary holder in my room. It is now silver with a white interior. The first step in manufacturing my pencil holder was to gather the correct equipment for it. I needed: 4 x PVC plugs, 1 x 85mm PVC tube 55cm long, 1 x 55mm PVC 105mm long and 2 20mm PVC 105mm long and 1 40mm wide PVC 155 mm long split in half to form two separate sections inside the 85mm wide PVC. First I trimmed the 85mm pipe to a length slightly longer then the specified measurement using a hacksaw. Then I smoothed the edges of the pipe on the Lathe. For the plug I used PVC sheet machined in the Lathe after being approximately cut to 85mm on the Bandsaw. I drilled two holes in the 85mm plug so that the disk could be properly secured in the Lathe. Using the PVC adhesive glue I bonded the plug to the bottom of the tube. The second tube I manufactured was the 55mm, 105mm long tube. Hack sawing the pipe to a length slightly longer then the specified length and smoothing both ends edges on the Lathe. This particular tube required a “V” shaped cut out. I simply use the Hack Saw and the Circular saw. I also used the Blue and Orange Handled file to smoothen off the edges. For the plug I used PVC tube machined in the Lathe and glued to the pipe with PVC adhesive glue. The plugs in the tubes are to prevent any contents falling out. The two small 105mm long tubes both needed a 45∘ degree angle cut from the top of the tube. I simply angled the job in the vice to 45∘ and hack sawed the marked tube out. 2 plugs that I machined were used for the floor of the tube. The last pipe I needed was a 155mm long and 60mm wide. The pipe needed to be cut in two which and glued inside of the 85mm. I cut the pipe in
