Peer pressure can help mould a student’s life. As a student, I know that a students life is really transient. Even though its only temporary, most of us will do anything to get it back. But alas, when we had it we didn’t really appreciate it. It is like a period of confusion, a time where we tried to search our personal identity. Some would have found it but there are also some others who only found it later in time. There are also a few of them whose student life can prove to be traumatic. To make sure this never occur, mass media, parental role and peer influence all play an important role in a student’s life. We cannot deny that mass media bring a lot of advantages to us but there’s an important factor we all overlook. It may have negative effects on students. The movies, programmes and advertisements especially from western medias depicts a trendy lifestyle where using drugs, smoking, weird fashions and mannerism appear acceptable not to mention it helps them to look ‘cool’. It may be a passing phase for some while for others it may leave a permanent dent in their lives. They may never recover if they get into bad company. It will haunt them for the rest of their lives or much worse, ruin their future. We cannot fully blame peer pressure alone as this proves mass media is one of the factors that play a role in their lives. The next factor that plays an important role in the students’ lives is parental role. In this modern age, parents tend to leave their kids to the nannies and school to teach them while they themselves are busy working to the bone. Students tends to think themselves are accountable for their own actions. But parents should understand that family upbringing influenced them the most. Moral values and social norms are all imbued by parents on young children. Parents have to be good role models because children tend to emulate them. Whatever
