It is essential to reduce complacency and increase urgency by developing a vision that others will encompass. With the economy in our society today, people are keeping their jobs even if they do not have job satisfaction. People seem to become complacent with their jobs because they are at least collecting a paycheck and receiving health care benefits. (Kotter, Pg 48) Job satisfaction correlates with Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Related to the Job. Maslow’s needs include physiological, safety and security, belongingness, social and love.
Such incentives could include employee of the month and small gifts for top customer services. When setting up such incentives it is important to get the employees input on what would help to motivate them in keeping up customer service and sales. Employees also want to know you are making investment in them. By having regular trainings to keep employees up on the menu, safety regulations, and customer service the employer is showing there invested. Trainings should also be fun and not nuisance for the employee to complete.
For example two employees will be given a situation where one employee will be required to enact a customer and other will play the role of employee. By enacting the two parties the employees will understand the actual situation that they will have to face while working in the organization. By continuously practicing the different situations the employees will be able to understand their jobs better and provide better services to the customers. Where I come from people who are in poverty are on welfare and they seem to work the system just so they do not have to work, but now after watching the video it has definitely opened up my eyes to what is really going on. Most people can’t help their situation especially where I am from because there are not many jobs available. Now I do understand that they have the choice to finish school or maybe no depending on their family situation. But if they are not able at the time they should at least go get their GED. Sometimes even having that may not get you a good enough job to provide for your family.

Minimum wage is an entry-level rate offered to low skilled workers in the work force. From that point forward a person should prove their worth and commitment to being a necessary asset to the employer. If you are valued, you earn a raise and that propels you to keep succeeding and moving up the ladder. Now, if you are unfortunate enough to not have the drive to excel then you either stay at your lowly wage or eventually give up.
Plus, you have to take into consideration that a lot of these people have a full table to support at home.
