Paralegal Today Magazine Analysis When picking up Paralegal Today, the first thing a paralegal notices is that the cover has women in business suits and briefcases. Every aspect of Paralegal Today, from the advertisements to the pictures, and article titles, are all directed to paralegals. Paralegal Today helps paralegals whose main concern is having or attaining a job in the paralegal field. The cover also highlights many of the stories Paralegal Today explores. Some of the stories are beneficial to paralegals for landing jobs, while others are more about technology and how it is used in the legal assisting field. The ads inside of Paralegal Today are advertisement for colleges that specialize in certain areas of paralegal fields, and others are ads for legal systems that law firms may use to manage their firms. Paralegal Today also talks about the many ups and downs of being a paralegal, and of the many ways the economy has an effect of being in the paralegal field. Paralegal Today is a quarterly magazine that is targeted towards paralegal students and assistants to aid in the ability to find a job in the legal assisting career. In Paralegal Spotlight, Paralegal Today interviews paralegals in their struggles and triumphs in their career. In “A Plus-Sized Paralegal Embraces Murder and Mayhem” (Paralegal Today Oct/Dec 2010), Devenny interviewed Sue Ann Jaffarian who is a paralegal and now fiction author. They discuss how Jaffarian’s main character in the books is a paralegal, and Jaffarian got the inspiration for the character from herself. Jaffarian started in the paralegal field before it was required to have some sort of schooling in the field. She is now a senior paralegal at the firm she works for and takes her experiences and writes them into the fictional story.
