Everything is Not What it Seems Part 1 (Theme): Deception Deception seems to occur on every page of the Summoning of Everyman, printed by John Skot. The play begins with God informing us that Everyman has deceived him by living his life loving riches instead of worshipping and acknowledging the Lord. God sends Death to summon Everyman to his reckoning, and Death informs him that he can bring along whoever or whatever he sees beneficial to him. After Everyman learns this, he begs several people in his life to join him on his journey. They all agree until they find out that Everyman will not be returning.

Why did President Truman choose to side with Israel and not the Arabs even though there are numerous disadvantages? Most likely, he felt compassionate for the Jews because of the tragedies they had experienced and wanted to help them. Also, Truman stated that he decided to support the Jews instead because he has to “answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism”, while he does not have as many Arabs among his constituents. He prefers to support Israel, as it would gain him more favor than it would if he were to help the Arabs. In the end, Truman sided with Israel and helped them become a sovereign country because he believed that the benefits of the choice outweighed the

In fact God helps him out in many different ways and Beowulf acknowledges that throughout the poem. He thanks God for guiding and protecting him, and states that in his battle with Grendel, he would have been destroyed if God had not guided him. He also acknowledges that all earthly blessings come from God. Other characters in the poem also acknowledge that power comes from God. For example when Hrothgar talks with Beowulf about selfish kings who do not give thanks to God for their blessings.
Baba had lived a life lying to his son and his close friend Ali. Baba had committed adultery and thief which he believed to be the worst sin. The shocker in the novel was when Rahim Khan expressed to Amir that Hassan was also Baba’s son. By Baba not telling Amir that Hassan was his brother earlier in the novel, he had robbed Amir and Hassan of a true brother to brother relationship. I feel that if Amir had known that Hassan was his brother, he would have never made the decision to put the money under Hassan bed which constituted to Ali’s and Hassan’s departure.
