New generation likes to use social media as self advertisement and sometime they share very personal information. By doing this, their future privacy fells endanger and can affect badly in their mind in future which is not a good thing for the society, widely for the nation. Also, social media is hurting our society by spreading misinformation faster than any other media. Author Amanda Thomas shows a statistics in the
He lives up to this label with his current scandal involving him calling a female law student from Georgetown University a “slut” on his radio program. This along with the fact that he is somewhat famous makes Limbaugh newsworthy because people are always interested in something dramatic. If Limbaugh says something to offend someone, people will want to hear about to see “what did he say this time” or “someone said that on the radio?” This is the reason why the story has grown so rapidly. People are interested in controversy; on one hand it excites feminist and others who support Sandra Fluke. On the other it prompts people to realize and defend the fact that we are constitutionally protected to say what we want.
We understand that they are doing whatever it takes to win an election, but what we don’t always consider is the principles of hate that we are being exposed to. The true goal of these political advertisements is to promote hate against the opponent, which ultimately leads to a lot of tension between citizens who portray opposing political beliefs. Why is the news constantly being filled with stories of mass murder and rape, while positive and uplifting stories are often being ignored or barely touched upon? Likewise, why is the media making criminals look like celebrities while barely mentioning victims? The media does a terrific job of making this world look like a horrible and disgusting place, when in reality it’s not; we are taught to rely too heavily on propaganda, and
Crash The movie crash does a very good job exposing how common stereotyping people really is. Many people are affected by this every day. I really hope this movie helped people realize how much they affect people by what they say or how they act towards people just based off of stereotypes. Stereotyping is defined in our book as exaggerated generalizations associated with a categorizing system. Stereotypes may be based on a kernel of truth, but they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis.
The problem with Facebook is that it often puts people in bad situations often leading to suicide, self harm, low self-esteem, being harmed by a predator and not being hired by a company. One huge danger of Facebook is suicide. Facebook allows the freedom of speech to everyone and many people take advantage of this right. It allows bullies to say awful things and turn many people against an individual, destroying their self-esteem. This social network allows people to say things they most likely wouldn't say face to face and this is the big problem, there have been stories of teenagers killing themselves over the things these bullies say to them online.
Implying that families might not be the shiny, happy role-players that we all would like to think of, she speaks of the unthinkable, gruesome crimes to the weak, and infirm, of these so-called families. She elaborates with the supposed fact that . "..families get...more dangerous...and dysfunctional (so) they ought to disband," even though she mainly grasps on to media portrayals. All in all, she concludes that we all try to duck away from all ill feelings toward anti-families, yet she does mention hope that come in the form of outside moral help. Ehrenreich asserts that we all, healthy or dysfunctional, need guidance from friends, relatives, and our community so we do not implode; also, in her final plea she emphasizes that we need more gender equality and better child welfare.
This use of propaganda shows how the media influenced people’s thoughts and actions. Another way the media was influencing society, was advertisement saying “BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU” (1, Orwell), making one know that they were always being watched. This would cause people to act and speak a certain way. A horrible way Smith’s society controlled people’s mind and words was also through manipulation. When Smith was caught, they tortured him until he thought what the government
Intervention into a celebrity’s personal life, creation of bias reports regarding national or international issues and display of obscenity without viewer discretion, gave media the power to violate the rights of their freedom of expression. It cannot be denied that molding news in such a way can have an intense impact on the viewers. Media, in Pakistan, has exaggerated a lot of news only to gain popularity and public demand, showing dead bodies on roads after a bomb blast or violence in the country has only increased disrespect of our country internationally. So much as people have started considering Pakistan as a terrorist’s nation. Once a person from abroad reluctantly came to Pakistan, and to one’s shock, Pakistan seemed to possess a vast scenic beauty that one was not aware of.
Author Louis Kraft states that, social networking has taken too much control of our daily lives, to the point where it leads to people being envious and depressed (2011). Activities such as cyber bullying have been more prominent and have increased due to social media, resulting in many depressed victims. Also, terrorist groups, such as the Al-Qaeda and the Al-Shabbab, use social networks to spread messages of hate and violence, which may lead to religious conflict and fear in the world. It’s extremely unfortunate that a system that was supposed to bring us so close and working together has actually backfired into one that creates disruption. Likewise, the never ending use of social network causes people to get spend a lot of time, glued to their phones and other wireless devices, forgetting the importance of actual human to human contact.
The other countries began to start feel jealous, so they did the same. For these reasons, countries competed with one another to gain the largest empires. The competition led to animosity or strong hostility between countries. This helped lead to World War One. In conclusion, M.A.I.N.
