Other ways in which Apple could improve their operational activities is by reducing their carbon footprint. This is because Apple creates a big carbon footprint by outsourcing from countries which are thousands of miles away, therefore causing a lot of air miles to transport the product to western countries to sell. Many climate changes are against this practice and protest against Apple because of their unethical actions. However in order to cut down on air miles and stop create pollution, Apple should relocate their factories or supplies to an area or country which is more nearer to their base. Through relocating Apple would also be offering new job opportunities to more local economies in countries in the West, where their main customer base is.
The staggering amount of food waste makes one wonder, “Why so much?” The fact that America is a wasteful country is almost enough in itself, but that may also lead to the question, “Why are Americans such wasteful people?” America is a very fast-paced country as well as an over- populated one. The massive increase in people raise the demand for food higher than it’s ever been, faster than it’s ever been, only to have most individuals not have enough time or room in their stomachs to finish the meal he or she cooked or bought. Americans buy more food than necessary and don’t put leftovers in the fridge because there will always be “more where that came from”. Is it just that Americans are too lazy? Or is it that we have such an abundance of food there is no need to be conservative over buying too much at the grocery store (or fast food joint) or saving that last handful of leftover pasta?
The major problems with cotton are that the plantations require a lot of herbicides and pesticides, they use a lot fertilizer and they use up massive quantities of water. Hemp however makes a stronger material than cotton that can be grown in several different climates, requires no herbicides or pesticides, needs no fertilizers and would consume a lot less water. Because hemp is more durable then cotton I would throw away less cloths and I would reduce my methane as well as my nitrogen emissions. The growing, harvesting and production of hemp textiles create significantly less greenhouse gases then the cotton industry and would be a fast and easy alternative to
Environmental health Unit 38 P1 Explain how human activity can damages the environment For years now we have been warned about human activity destroying our planet and environment. Some of the things that humans are affecting are Climate Change, Depletion of Ozone Layer, Pollution, Deforestation and Extinction of Species. Overcrowding, urbanisation and population growth Overcrowding can affect our planet more than some people think, Overcrowding means more people this means we use more natural resources this means the earth in the end isn’t going to have enough resources to support the growing population. Remember every person on the planet takes up space which could be used for farmland, and forests. People excrete wastes and litter that flow into water systems, and animal habitats, this is slowly polluting water and killing wildlife.
When I was doing my research, most of the stuff I found was negative. I only found one site that was tellings the positive side on fracking. The outcome of fracking, which is natural gases, are seen to be better for the environment because the gases burn cleaner. But all of the work done to get these natural gases is harmful. There are 40,000 gallons of chemicals used per fracking.
6). With all the waste produced by industrialization, air pollution has also become a major issue. Statistics show that “China has the world’s highest number of annual deaths triggered by air pollution” (Doc. 10). Due to this hazard, growing crops became more difficult.
They produced many new jobs with the need for new roads since the American landscape was drastically expanding. Advertisements not only made businesses prosper but gave people actual helpful information, such as the idea of keeping a much better personal hygiene being better for your health. Alternating electrical current increased energy efficiency tenfold compared to direct current since people could actually turn off their electricity. However, the Installment Plan created a country-wide idea that you could now buy what you really can’t afford and that made a lot of debt which eventually made the stock market crash leading to the Great Depression. Although there was a blotch on the great economic image of the twenties, the bigger smudge was on the cultural rifts that
The inability of rain will led to increase heat and that may lead to have dryer soils and that would have a big impact in our agriculture. Productivity will decline. Even though if that happens irrigation to fill water needs could be a way to help the need of rain. The soil of Indiana is a major natural resource that temperature changes will affect, hotter drier summers, would be the main cause of loss soil organic matter and will result an increased soil respiration. Loss of soil will decrease the ability to retain moisture and specially essential nutrients for plant growth.
In the US, tobacco is the single most remunerative business in existence. Large tobacco industries as well as smaller businesses would be affected by the ban, and farmers of the plant would find themselves at loss of jobs. Unemployment is already a major issue in today’s society, and this ban would cause its rates to rocket. Tobacco is also a prominent player in the trade industry; countries such as LEDCs that rely on its trade (amongst that of other products) for their economy would find themselves at great loss. However, it could be argued that since tobacco lowers life expectancy and causes diseases, tobacco costs considerably more than it should to the taxpayer.
This is a long term effect because it occurred over a number of years and led to other factors such as the problem of inflation, which links with the population increase because as the resources became limited, prices for these resources increased as they were in higher demand. Therefore inflation then became another factor contributing to poverty. Inflation was another factor for the increase of poverty because the cost of living increased making it harder to afford the everyday supplies needed to survive. People's wages did not keep up with the rising prices making it difficult to survive especially those with low wages to start with, they were in a worse position. Buying simple supplies such as food cost more money, as a result they had less or no money to spend on anything else after purchasing food.
