VANDALISM I. Introduction Thesis statement: Vandalism is a problem that is difficult to stop. The causes of vandalism are peer influence, parents and family and materialistic and individualistic society. II. Body A. One reason for this problem is peer influence.( 2011) 1. Young people usually imitate and be influenced by peers. a) Peer influence will shape the attitudes, values and behaviours of teenagers, especially teenagers who drop out and have family problem. b) Teenagers who commit vandalism normally belong to a certain group, that do not have any purpose and when assembled, including the emergence of scribbling ideas and damaging public property. 2. Most teenagers will spend free time to socialize with their peers. a) Mixing with others people will determine the character of person. b) Loitering can also cause them to do activities, that are not healthy, such as vandalism, gangsterism and others. B. Another reason for this problem is the role of parents to their adolescents. 1. Parents are driven by the nature of vandalism among teenagers. a) When parents drive a car, they with according to their freely to littering the rubbish out from a car and ignoring the speed limit signs. (Mohamed Sofee Razak, 2010). b) When parents behave badly by doing damages to public facilities such as seats in the park, they can not ignore the damage and this has led to unhealthy image to their children. 2. Lack of emphasis on religious and moral education from their parents. a) Parents who are greedy pursuit of wealth and finance has excluded this important education. b) Weakness and collapse of the family institution, especially a lack of love, attention, care and moral up bring of the parents to their children. i) Parents who emphasis material, career and
