With the cost of diesel gas almost breaking five and a half dollars per gallon, many companies cannot afford to transport their product. The expectation of this effect can only be that the economy will almost literally die; if people don’t first. Everyday food is only one product that is mass transported around the world. With the addition to the rest of the products that are transported this world’s economy seems doomed. Besides gasoline there are many major uses of petroleum – everything from cosmetics to ballpoint pens, nylons, and even the waxes in chewing gum.
As a result of this, plants and animals are forced to adapt to significant changes that threaten their way of life. As explained by Suzuki in the article, every year at least twenty thousand species disappear forever and the rate of extinction is speeding up largely due to human activity. Many living things are now paying the price for all the man made pollution that has been created as a result of global warming. Furthermore we as a community do nothing to stop global warming and feel no sense of responsibility or duty to care for the overall well being of our world. Big businesses are releasing harmful chemicals into the atmosphere and oceans.
Every species affects the lives of those around them. Technology has affected society and its surroundings in a number of ways. In many societies, technology has helped develop more advanced economies and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Many technological processes produce unwanted by products, known as pollution, and deplete natural resources, to the detriment of the Earth and its environment. This is a problem because the way we treat the world around us is a direct reflection of our values and beliefs.
Slaughterhouses were gruesome and extremely unethical in their approach to materialize animals. It seems as if animals were no longer living beings but rather objects that humans can reproduce and manipulate. I believe that many people in our society are anthropocentric because a lot of them are not exposed to what the food industries really do. The general public is often occupied with the idea that everything should revolve around improving ourselves. But not a lot of people pay attention to what happens behind the scenes.
The UK government in recent years has had to resort to financial cutbacks due to the recession, especially funds for the public services. This had has a large impact on the public services, majority of them being negative. An example could be there have been many Fire station closures within the UK. The fire service in recent years has vastly improved, this can be show by the number of fires is annually decreasing. This means the government does not see the need to have as many fire men/women and therefore made many redundant and closed down fire stations in order to save money.
A Modern Modest Proposal In our world today, we have an ongoing problem with pollution. In the past decades, the pollution caused by our human race has continued to show an impact on our Earth. Every day our beloved planet is getting hurt more and more and this is making it harder for life to be sustained here. Soon, planet Earth could cease to exist and human life as well as all living species could become extinct. I propose that we eat all of the pollution waste, causing all of the waste to disappear from the Earth (logical appeal).
Greetings my friends, Family, and people of this nation, as you all know in these past years the prices on Fuel has gone up reaching record highs. Even prices on clothing, food, and paper has been going up and with these hard times around us, how are we to pay for these high prices on everyday items? . Forests are depleting slowly to make paper for use, in doing so we are losing food that come naturally and destroying our planet slowly. What if one plant could help fix out problem, one plant that can grow in any climate, on any part of the planet with little care, that gives back to the earth when it dies?

Overcrowding, urbanisation and population growth Overcrowding can affect our planet more than some people think, Overcrowding means more people this means we use more natural resources this means the earth in the end isn’t going to have enough resources to support the growing population. Remember every person on the planet takes up space which could be used for farmland, and forests. People excrete wastes and litter that flow into water systems, and animal habitats, this is slowly polluting water and killing wildlife.
Drilling for Oil in the Arctic Refuge The continued decrease in fossil fuels in the world today has caused some major concern. With the decrease in fossil fuel, we see the price of gas rise everyday with concern on how long we will be able to continue to rely on fossil fuels. With the United States relying heavily on foreign imports for oil, it has caused for the need to find a supply within the country. With so much reliance on foreign oil has caused all fingers to point at the oil reserve found to be below the National Wildlife Refuge, which is protected by the government. The argument over the oil refuge has raised a major reaction by many environmental groups to not allow the refuge to be us for the benefit of people or the United States.
The majority of the people voting for the age limit to drop to 18 are the people who are under 18 or who are 18. They feel that 18 year-olds are prepared to make responsible decisions about drinking (Amethyst Initiative). The Amethyst Initiative believes that lowering the drinking age will only make situations worse for society. But the fact is, these people are not thinking about the consequences and are only looking at the pleasure. “More than 1,700 college students in the U.S. are killed each year—about 4.65 a day—as a result of alcohol-related injuries” (The Marin Institute).
