It was a bright afternoon with his father, as they were driving up to the middle school that he was going to spend the next 3 miserable, yet enjoyable years of his life. The two nervously walked into the den of wolves, also referred to as the band hall, they were greeted by the head alphas, or the band directors. As Richard proceeded through the band hall, he entered a room, where he would meet his greatest friend. The moment he held the beautiful complex bassoon in his hands, glistening from the ceiling lights, he knew that he would fall in love playing the instrument. Over the past summer of patiently waiting on getting a new bassoon, and the first week of school, Richard was practicing his other musical instruments and has been studying for his classes for the school year that was ahead of him.

Halloween Writing Prompt [eslprof.com/handouts/Comp/HalloweenStoryPrompt.doc] A Night on Brickmore Hill John Petty was a college student at Brickmore College, in upstate New York. The college had mostly rich students, but John was admitted on a scholarship, and his parents had very little money. He desperately needed a new computer, but he didn’t have any money, so he looked at the Help Wanted ads in the local Brickmore Gazette. One ad was intriguing: I need a house sitter for one night. I have a large empty house on top of Brickmore Hill, which I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to sell since 1995.
As a banker he had no time to do what he wanted or have a social life, he was getting up at 5:30am and getting to bed around 10 every night, he claimed, “Everyone thinks its glamorous, but it’s not that glamorous.” His girlfriend wanted a camera for her birthday, so he got her one, but shortly after they broke up and he was left with the camera; he started playing around with it, and realized how much fun it was. Eventually, he quit his job as a banker and left the country within 24 hours to go photograph an event. He states, “I just felt I needed to be there and witness what was going on.” Upon return from the trip, he enrolled in a photojournalism course at the nearby college and ultimately won an award for best young photojournalist by photographing the civil war in Sierra Leone. He gave up his very successful banking job to become a photojournalist and deal with less than half salary as he used to get.

A Defining Moment at a Young Age ENGL 1613 When I was 8 my parents took me on a surprise trip. I was so joyous when we pulled into the parking lot of Frontier City amusement park. Little did I know we weren’t there to ride rides but instead see Three Dog Night in concert. I had so much fun with my dad that night. What I didn’t know was that the fact of how difficult it was going to be to overcome the feeling of being lonely, since he left me and my family. My older brother and I were always very close with our grandfather as we were growing up. We would do everything together. He was the first person who introduced us how to ride a bike, how to play chess, how to play basketball. He even got me my very own basketball hoop in my backyard for my birthday, but unfortunately as time flew by life took all this from us.
I got 6th place in the tournament and was not happy but I gained experience and never gave up. My father and I drove back to Dallas and were greeted by the rest of my family who were all over the country and some in different countries. My Spring Break was fun because I got to spend five days with my dad and we did what we both love to do. I was upset that I did not win but you can’t always win and you have to learn how to lose and be a good loser. Spring Break 2018 was one for the record
