One major threat is that coral reefs are under huge stress due to the impact that human activities are having and in fact already 1/5 of the world’s coral reefs are so damaged that they are beyond repair. The increase of average global temperatures is leading to an increased rate of ice cap melting. This is due to global warming, making a global threat to all ecosystems including the coral reef. The reason for this is that the melting of the ice caps releases more fresh water into the oceans, reducing salinity making sea level rise. Due to sea level rising coral reefs are getting destroyed, as they cannot survive in water above 25m.

Botkin has a scientific perspective about global warming; however, Gore’s position is better. Al Gore uses facts and evidence to support his views about global warming.

Those are two of the main questions that have come to mind about the way to focus our thoughts on what can be done to decrease this issue in the world today. One of the major atmospheric issues that has been destroying the environment for years is global warming. I have read that in the present compared to the past global warming has increased tremendously.
We then, can assume the reason for the increasing temperature was resulted from industries, over-powering energy with coal during that specified time period. Manufacturing produces massive amounts of carbon dioxide along with other greenhouse gases, resulting in warming the whole planet, hene causes climate changes. Thus, it can be concluded that humans have a strong correlation with the increasing temperature and climate changes that are happening
TMA 01, QUESTION1. Some of the most serious environmental issues today are climate change, air issue, waste and land pollution, over population and water issue. 1. Climate Change, is undeniable a global environmental concern that is triggering a rise in the amount of major natural disasters like floods and hurricanes; which causes destruction in societies and the regions which they effect. Global warming will only cause an increase in these issues along with additional problems that could eventually end this civilization, if we don’t work hard on improving our efforts on managing all the different types of pollution and waste that contributes to this major concern.
Even the extensive evidence that high amounts of greenhouse gases do have an impact on the rising temperature many still think all of this is part of the Earth’s natural cycle. During the last century temperatures have increased on a global scale, known as global warming. There has been a sharp rise in average temperature being 0.7°C between 1900 and 200. Scientists believe that this rise in temperature is mainly due to human factors and the increase of industrialisation and the revolution. These industrial activities have raised atmospheric gases such as carbon dioxide which contribute to greenhouse gases.
Carbon dioxide is a heat trapping greenhouse gas. It gets “released through human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels, as well as natural processes such as respiration and volcanic eruptions” (Global Climate Change: Key Indicators, 2014). An increase in carbon dioxide means more heat is trapped thereby raising the Earth’s temperature. Global surface temperature needs to also be monitored. Not just one area but globally!
But if my opponents did any research, they would realize that there is plenty of evidence to show that global warming is a real threat to this earth. In his essay “Now Or Never”, Bill McKibben writes: Consider hydrology, for instance. Warm air holds more water vapor the cold air, so there is an increase in evaporation in dry areas, and hence more drought—something that has been documented on every continent. Once that water is in the atmosphere, it’s going to come down someone—and indeed we have seen the most dramatic flooding ever recorded in recent years. In 1998, 300 million humans, one in twenty of us, had to leave their homes for a week, and month, a year, forever because of rising waters.
David Zhang Ms. Khan ENG3U1-08 25 March 2012 Oryx and Crake: Climate Change Climate change is a tough subject for humans to deal with; ever since the Industrial Revolution, our dramatically increased consumption of energy over the century has brought about immense consequences. Abnormal weather conditions, an increased frequency of natural disasters, and rising sea levels are what many of us claim to be part of a “natural cycle”. However, it is no coincidence that we are on the wrong end of that “natural cycle”, and our behaviours and activities have only caused it to worsen. Climate change will worsen if we continue to disregard its existence and compromise with its consequences, rather than confronting the source of the issue and taking responsibility. Our irresponsibility could ultimately lead to the destruction of our world and civilization, as portrayed in “Oryx and Crake” by Margaret Atwood.
The inability of rain will led to increase heat and that may lead to have dryer soils and that would have a big impact in our agriculture. Productivity will decline. Even though if that happens irrigation to fill water needs could be a way to help the need of rain. The soil of Indiana is a major natural resource that temperature changes will affect, hotter drier summers, would be the main cause of loss soil organic matter and will result an increased soil respiration. Loss of soil will decrease the ability to retain moisture and specially essential nutrients for plant growth.
