The purpose of this study is to identify how the decision at Kudler Fine Foods of start contracting with local growers of organic produce, will affect the business processes along with the supply chain. Will describe how the company needs to improve the quality control tools and performance standards to ensure the effectiveness of operations.
The ability of Kudler Fine Food’s to maintain competitive selling and supplying gourmet and organic products to their customers depends on their business process. “A process is any part of an organization that takes inputs and transforms them into outputs that are of greater value to the organization than the original inputs (Chase, Jacob and Aquilano,2006).
The principal business processes applied by Kudler that will be affected are, purchasing, in which the stores acquire goods to full fit the customers wants in quantity, quality and price; inventory, in which the stores will held goods and materials in stock to provide an efficient service, also to ease the effect of imperfections; delivery to control the transportation, in addition the disposition of logistics, which include personnel and goods to assure an efficient storage at the point of sales.
In the actual Kudler’s strategy, no purchasing department is being held, department managers of each store determines the require products and place the purchase orders directly with suppliers. Department managers are responsible for making the decision of supplier quality and price for purchasing. Kudler Fine Foods must focus their strategic, tactical and operational management in development of plans and operations to implement the necessary changes to remain competitive in the industry, which every day present new trends and competition.
