One problem the internet caused stated in the documentary is, it is very hard for parents and authorities to regulate what kids do on the computer. Since the internet is so easy to access via new technologies, authoritative figures just cannot be present with the kids all the time. Another issue the internet has caused reported by the documentary is by it being so addictive, it has taken time away from studying, school work and activities such as reading. This is a problem because education is almost a must in today’s society. However, the documentary fails to acknowledge how the internet has helped kids by providing ways to find answers and acquire research and knowledge.
In other words, as we get older, we have a harder time with distractions online with the Internet, Facebook, and such. Finally, some people say that using Google will make a person stupid, which is true for some, but others like me, actually use it for research and to learn as well. Experienced Internet users actually showed increased brain activity, with more advanced decision-making skills and complex reasoning. In simple terms, the inexperienced Internet users lagged behind. This is either a win or lose for using Google, it help some, but also fails others.
Humans are supposed to be social. The more time students spend on social sites, the less time they spend socializing in person. Because of the lack of body signals and other non-verbal cues, like tone and inflection, social networking sites are not an adequate replacement for face to face communication. “Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just has hard.’’ (Anne Spencer) Students who spend a great deal of time on social networking sites are less able to effectively communicate in person. Social networks reduce or eliminate face to face socialization.
Tevin Hutchinson 11/10/2012 English 102 Technology plays a huge role in our everyday life. I do believe that technology has made our lives easier, but it also has made us more dependent on the technology itself. When using the internet for a dictionary you could easily get distracted. Anyone can put anything on the internet, so what you find might not be accurate. Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.
However, college students need to understand that using social networking sites religiously is not just an issue about the amount of time devoted towards schoolwork, but that it can literally change how they think. Social networking sites, along with Google and Wikipedia, are influencing how college students process information. Facebook is a great tool to keep in touch with friends, but the Internet needs to be used for educational purposes. Although the Internet can be used for educational purposes, the usage of sites like Facebook, Wikipedia, and Google have negatively changed the way college students think. Some credit can be laid upon the student, but ultimately we as a society need to fundamentally change how people use the Internet.

You have to go and turn off the locator function for it not to show where you are posting from. The locator setting shows where you are posting right down to the house number. Some people end up having a dependency or addiction to social media and sacrifice their home life, school, and relationships with other people. Another disadvantage of social media is work production. Social media can distract an employee and take away from work that needs to be completed.
It can be a time of looking forward to life’s possibilities without the cares of adulthood, and rewarding friendships. It can also be a time of alienation from friends and parents, and fearing the direction of one’s life. During early adolescence the maturation of the frontal lobe, responsible for judgment, impulse control, and planning lags behind the limbic system development. This inconsistency in development helps explain a teenager’s risky behaviors, emotional instability, and impulsiveness. These qualities are what put teenagers at risk not only online but offline as well.
Most people find reading books easier so don’t some people like me because I prefer researching on the internet to searching for stuff in the library. Some people will support Carr by saying that the internet really makes us dumber but I’m on the opposite side because I defiantly think it makes as smarter especially with this technology that keeps improving as years come. All these things we have today and are able to access to will not be available without the internet because people or researchers wouldn’t have been able to get accurate information about what they were looking
Final Product #2 By banning books, it creates a negative effect on kids and adults and possibly even eliminate the teachings of life lessons for students. Going through life without the knowledge of what else is out there besides “good” in people can be harsh for some people especially for kids. Kids would not be able to handle life too well in the real world, if the whole time when they were younger they were being protected from all the "bad things" and “bad people.” Many people decide to do what they think is best for the safety of children, but in reality when kids grow up to be adults sometimes it harms them in more ways than helping them. Books shouldn't be banned from society, but some books do have suggestive content or profanity. When the so-called “negative parts” of the books remain, kids gain knowledge of what is and what is not good to do, say, or act.
