1. Identify the problems or issues that Olivia is dealing with in this case. Discuss why each of these is important to Olivia, to her organization, to broader society. After reading this document, I believe the problem is that Olivia is in culture shock, and she did not know how to correctly respond this problem. This led to generate much contradiction and conflict between her emotions and reasoning. She began to confuse and doubt her role and her original values. This is a serious problem, but can have positive or negative outcomes. Cultural differences, which can lead to cultural conflict, can make business performance decline, but if correctly treated, then it can give full play to the potential of cultural diversity to promote the business in order to be successful. It is important to the individual, the organization, and society in business. If this problem cannot be dealt with, it will impact individual career promotion, organization development, and even multinational or cross-regional project collaboration. In this case, Olivia is a kind lady; she treated work seriously, responsibly, passionately, and professionally. After she went to the Indian’s factory, she began to feel guilty; she could not focus on her work with a professional perspective. To the organization, if such excellent employees could not focus on the work, how could the organizations develop in business? Today, more and more enterprises seek to outsource, and more and more regions establish the need for projects’ cooperation. They will inevitably encounter problems like Olivia’s. If employees and enterprises cannot correctly face culture shock, then the employee will bring huge loss to the enterprises with their wrong judgment, and the project cooperation between regions will not successful. 2.
