The two boys differed in just about everything except in the love of fly fishing; this seems to be where the boys came to understanding with one another. Now even though Norman was the oldest, he admired his younger brother Paul and his wild streak which said to make him ‘tougher than any man alive’. Norman feared that that would someday destroy Paul, but took little worry in the possibility of it ever coming true, which it does later on in the film. Norman becomes serious in his school work and writing. He ends up attending Dartmouth College for six years and graduates, later becoming professor of English literature.
Joe’s father puts time and money into this fishing rod. As it says in the Bible “Where your treasure is there shall your heart be.” This is true for Joe’s father. Joe’s father has put his treasure or finances into the fishing rod. Yet his love for Joe allows him to give up his prized possession, the fishing rod, and allow Joe to use it while fishing with his friend. Syntax plays a huge role in developing Joes thoughts and feeling concerning his
In Finding Nemo, Marlin, the clown fish, is a dynamic character. After losing his wife and the babies, Marlin was traumtized and became overly protective regarding Nemo for he is the only one Marlin has left. He changed throughout the story. But, he died a hero so he had no regrets. The fact that Beowulf feels such a great pull to have a good reputation, so much that he is willing to die for it, clearly proves this cultural value shaping his life. However, these two examples are need based fights—the villages needed a hero to save them from the monsters. Beowulf also tries to strengthen his reputation by challenging his friend to a swimming race. Being sold again and again, the promises of being free and once free being questioned and beaten would test that statement and almost cause him to give up, but finding Christ and making his way back to London despite everything would once again show that he was a good omen to be true. Being a pioneer, as I see it, he sure took enough chances with his voyages alone and joining Captain Irving on his Polar expedition was enough for me to say he was an adventure junkie. Why wouldn’t we want to get paid for something we love doing? It’s just like a professional football player. They get paid for PLAYING a game that other people know how to play. The difference between professional bass anglers and regular anglers is that it is a job for the professional bass anglers, and it is just for fun to regular anglers.
‘You see how many starfish there are? You’ll never make a difference.’ The boy paused thoughtfully, and picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean. ‘It sure made a difference to that one,’ he said (45).” The Hawaiian parable, this had to be the most inspiring part of the book to me. Hearing stories of how one person was able to do all these incredible things to make life better for people, I still feel uninspired. I don’t have the resources those people do; I would think I’m wasting my time unless it turns into one of those really huge projects and organizations I keep hearing about.
Captain Nemo shows respect for God as the creator. He deeply admires God's creations, especially the sea. He thought the sea was the most beautiful thing. Nemo cared for life, when a member of his crew suffers serious injuries, causing him to die, he cried. He also saved a pearl diver from a shark; both these events prove he puts value on life.
We take from this passage that Telemachus is almost ready to be king but patiently and properly acquiesces to his father's judgment. Only Odysseus can string the bow on his first attempt, and he does so with ease, showing that he is the proper mate for Penelope and the only man ready to be king of Ithaca. The Sea The sea itself is a recurring symbol throughout the epic. It is, in effect, the sea of life. It represents a great man's journey through life with all its victories and heartbreaks.
