“Don’t you ever touch my little brother again or you’ll get it even worse!””(38) Tewolde beat up Frank as he always picked on Mawi. He has been a fighter all along the story and he stood up for Mawi in this incident and threatened Frank that if he ever touched Mawi again he will destroy him. This shows us how he is protective for his brother and will always be there for him. 2: Kind: “Tewolde’s heart spoke: “We should give him our sandwiches.” (64) Tewolde always had a soft spot for helping people, in this incident, he just had bought a sandwich and was really hungry but then he saw an old man shivering under the cold rain and he couldn’t resist asking him if his hungry. Eventually he gave up his sandwich to the old man and sacrificed his hunger for him. This portrait how kind Tewolde is and that he isn’t afraid to show it. 3: Generous: “I wondered how my brother had donated $240 a year to Compassion International, when he had so little money to spare. He was struggling to save money for college and was trying to help his family, too.”
