Can there be Harmony within the Modern World like in the Natural World? Making connections can happen spontaneously within an individual’s daily basis. It can happen through the natural world where people can connect with the serene environment around them or the modern world where people connect with other people using technology. People would admire the tranquility and peace that the natural environment has to offer to them, which can expedite the process of making connections more easily in the natural world. Other people on the other hand, would simply make connections with one another in the “modern” days mainly through technological devices, such as emails, cell phones, or computers. Still, are these connections benefiting people in both worlds? In “in the Forests of Gombe,” Jane Goodall describes her experiences as she journeyed across the forest in order to heal the pain of losing her husband to cancer. Throughout her journey, Goodall found a way to connect and harmonize her surroundings of the majestic natural environment and also connected with the chimpanzees by observing their behavior. In “Alone Together,” Sherry Turkle mentions about technology and most of the negative aspects it offered to people within her text. She talked about how robots and humans cannot really mutually connect with one another and also that people are more isolated than ever if they connect with other people online rather than meeting them face to face. Even though people make different connections within the natural world and modern world, it questions the fact of whether the modern world can have a sense of correspondence or not compared to the harmony that is already present in the natural world. Both of these worlds provide a feeling or place of comfort, a state of solitude to the world around us, and determine the authenticity of our relationships to many people who are
