INSTRUCTIONS FOR B.S. 1 PRESENTATIONS OBJECTIVES OF THE NOVEL/FILM PRESENTATIONS: 1. The novel/film presentations provide students with an opportunity to hone their skills in analyzing and understanding some aspects of individual, social or group behavior. Many novels and films reflect or raise issues about social and cultural influences on an individual’s/group’s choices and behaviors and provide interesting examples or learning about a variety of topics that are covered in the course such as personality development, leadership, managing change, power and politics, group dynamics, managing conflicts, etc. 2. In addition, since the presentation is a group activity, students will have first-hand experience of understanding and practicing skills in managing interpersonal and group dynamics. 3. The presentation will also provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills in making effective oral presentations. GROUP FORMATION: You will be informed about your groups by the instructors. There will be approximately 12 students in each group. The presentations will be scheduled on weekends or free slots outside the normal class time after your mid term examinations. Each group will be given 15 minutes for making the presentation and 5 minutes to answer questions. CHOOSING THE NOVEL/FILM Once the groups are formed, students should meet in their groups to choose the novel or film that they wish to analyze and present on. In making their choice, students should identify books/films that reflect issues relating to the topics covered in the course. Each group should prepare a short note (giving reasons for the appropriateness of their choice of film/novel) and email the same to all the course instructors.
