Obesity is one of the biggest concern among people in Thailand and it has been a controversial issue for years. The number of people who become obese is increasing, particularly children and adolescents. Moreover, obesity is harmful to children’s health, their lifestyle and it might affect their future. In the past, people used to consume homemade food like rice and fresh produce which are traditional diet. While, fast food was not much well known in Thai eating tradition. Today, life changes and obesity is on the rise due to parenting, availability of unhealthy foods, lack of education and awareness, the reduction in the amount of physical activity and an increase in sedentary behavior. According to World Health Organization (WHO) data from 2011, Thailand is the second fattest country in Southeast Asia with 32.2 percent of adults classified as overweight. It is also mention that, the obesity trend in Thailand is rising up faster than other countries in Asia. Obesity problem has effected to Thai people for the past decades. Associated with The Ministry of Public Health in Thailand has revealed 20,000 adults die every year from being overweight or obese. Among females it is the leading cause of death, followed by high blood pressure and cholesterol. There are many reasons why people in Thailand have become obese, and obesity has leads to negative effects on them. One of the primary causes of obesity in Thailand is eating habit. People do not eat appropriate proportion of nutrients and have meals outside their home. Moreover, some people have fast food as an ordinary meal when it should be a rare decision for example; they eat spaghetti, Kentucky Fried Chicken or pizza in the fast food shop.
