The First Trimester takes place from the first week to the 13th week of pregnancy. Fertilization takes place when, in most cases, one sperm is able to make its way through the fallopian tube and burrow into the egg. Once fertilization occurs, the egg will change so that no other sperm can burrow into the egg. The sperm and egg form a new cell known as a zygote. Right when fertilization occurs, all of the child’s genes are set.

| Understanding Food Labels | SCI/241 | | | | | Attempting to understand food labels can be very confusing if one were to begin reading the labels without prior knowledge of how the labels work. Maintaining a healthy diet can be much easier if a person can remember the one simple rule, which applies to the percent daily values of a food. On the other hand, if a food has 20% or more of the daily value of a particular nutrient, the food is in fact a good source of that nutrient.
