More importantly, it hurts the lives of the many people that were working for Hostess. They can't make a living without a job, without a job they wouldn't have the money to pay for their bills or even their house and might even add to the growing population of homeless people. It would also hurt the states in which the bakeries or plants were shut down. Also, the liquidation affects the people who love Hostess, people who grew up with Hostess, and the new-coming babies that won't be able to enjoy any of their products anymore. The Union is supposed to help the economy, not take away businesses that will help it.
The Board of Education wants the best for students by closing schools, a lot can’t be accomplished by establishing closures across the country. A different approach must be met to help the education system. The budget crisis represents that the world of capitalism will do anything to find money by raiding the public education in pursuit of profit. With a proof of databases of students failing conducted by the Board of Ed., and schools lacking performance, gives the public facts of school
Social Responsibility EST1 Task 1 Company Q's current attitude toward social responsibility can best be described as nonexistent. While a business's ultimate goal is to create profit, businesses should enlist community friendly practices to strengthen both the company and the community as a whole. Three areas that Company Q needs to reevaluate are as follows; (1) closing down stores because of the crime rate in that specific part of town; (2) only offering high margin items that are health conscious; and (3) wasting food instead of donating it to local food banks. Company Q has recently closed a couple of stores due to a pattern of lost profits. These two stores were in high-crime-rate areas.
On the other hand, Cousins wants us to help the poor because it actually helps them. Cousins address that, “the best way to bring down the birth rate is not to let people starve, but to give them a better life.” (Cousins 733) And the best way to give them a better life, Cousins states, is not by “cutting back on aid, we ought to be stepping up shipments of fertilizer, chemicals, plows, tractors, harvesting machines, tools, engines, dynamos, and thousands of other items involved in upgrading living standards.”(Cousins 733) Not helping the poor or “Hardinism can become a wild
401(K) has become ineffective because of the corruption of big business, the misunderstanding of and as a result a mishandling of the 401(K) accounts, and its correlating dependency on the market’s success. Making profit is important to people. Most of all, improving the bottom line is the primary objective for major companies. “For Robert Shively, learned that his employer, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, or also-known-as Oxy Pete,” wanted to forgo the guaranteed-employer pension plans for the less demanding 401(K) system where it is based on contributions from employee’s pay rather than from the employer’s profit. This forces the employee to save without any effort but, due to this, workers began to neglect the social security and entirely dropped the use of the original pension plan.
The residents of this county needs help but not they help that the government continues to give to them. They need help in the form of more jobs in their county, instead the government is supplying them with government funded programs. More available jobs can help to decrease poverty levels. Mark Riddix explains, “The death of jobs in the United States has directly impacted the poverty rate” (Riddix, 2011). The government funded programs are supposed to have been a temporary fix for the people of this county.
We need to do something to help the minors who did not have a choice of coming over here, but just followed their parents. If these minors are here in the U.S and thriving for an education or serve our country why not give them a path to citizenship. It is not easy as immigrant to stay focus and achieve what you want in life. The more immigrants that become legal they would pay taxes and our deficit would go down in the long run. Until the government decides what to do, we are going to be in this recession.
These things are not a necessity of life. It would also help people to quit smoking, drinking and cut down on unhealthy eating, all are of which a big medical expense, I believe that taxes should be raised on the rich. And I feel that our prisoners should be sent to war instead of our kids fresh out of high school, people that contribute positively to society, fathers expecting their first child, someone that has already served some time in a war, etc. The money it costs to house, feed, clothed, educate, medical and dental for prisoners would be better served sending prisoners to war. I do believe that we have solutions for better budget cuts.
Addressing the mental health problem at the federal, state and local level is also the key to solving this problem, putting Americans in the street that have any type of mental health issues is un-American. Additionally, employers need to change the stigma of negativity concerning hiring practices, especially for those who were incarcerated. With the elderly population living longer and contributing to this problem it is no quick or easy fixes; however, the government needs to do whatever it takes to get people off the street and into housing. Education is also a very important aspect to fixing this problem if people are educated they can get a better job. Although it may be true that some people may contribute to their own demise, there are still a record number of people who legitimately need help.
Civilians would expect soldiers to be training hard and using their vehicles for legitimate purposes. Implications of this are a loss of trust in the military as professionals and the belief that the forces they support so much with their tax dollars and American spirit waste their resources and are not doing all they can to be prepared for whatever comes their way. This is a low priority case and I believe the counseling of the soldiers is suitable to ensure they understand the implications of using orders and expensive government property to go to lunch. The civilian who reported them to the Inspector General and no doubt others at the restaurant now view the Army or military as a whole as unprofessional and somewhat deceptive because the actions of those soldiers is not what they would expect. While this case does provide a bit of comedy it is an important ethical lesson that even a seemingly harmless training event could have far-reaching
