While theft and low income consumers bring the possibility of providing only moderate revenue gains, if not a loss, operating in impoverished areas can also be a source of growing potential for the business. Many companies advertise philanthropic missions, such as donating to charities every year or helping to provide for the families of their employees. While these are messages that consumers hear, a more powerful message can be the one that the consumers themselves see. Rather than closing down those stores, Company Q should focus on the reasons for the high crime, and offer ways to reduce that crime rate. Offering work programs that help prepare young people for management or skilled positions is a good way to take crime off of the streets while showing to the community that the business cares about the welfare of the population.

Well President Obama found the 60 days too short to fulfill such a permit and he denied the permit once again. I honestly think all the veto power that is issued in our government is ridiculous. With this power in our political system nothing new ever gets a chance to be implemented into our lives.

Faced with all this various obstacles, there’s no way the President will ever become too powerful and thus pose a threat to democracy. The Madisonian system (separation of powers and checks and balances) is strong enough to check and prevent such tendencies. In my perspective, the President isn’t ‘strong enough’ to stand up to the diverse interests in the United States and that’s because the Senate overpowers him. Also because the process to get things done is extremely long, frustrating and never reasoned by the people. The President is a human being like you and I.

Branches of Government Jefferson said it best, “My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government” (The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Inc., 1996-2012, para. 1). After the ultimate control while under rule of the crown, the founding fathers sought to create not only a government that provided for rights and liberties of the people, but also to ensure that government interaction and authority was spread amongst various branches. This distribution of power would provide checks and balances to guarantee reduced influence, while allowing each section to operate independently. However, agreement of each party would be problematic to achieve when needing to enact new laws and regulations.
One of my main takeaways from this topic is that money isn’t the best motivator. According to Mayo’s Hawthorne effect, employees feel more motivated when their efforts are recognized, and this can be achieved through bonuses for example. However, this can increase individualism as employees will focus on outperforming their peers. Intrinsic motivation helps create loyal employees who are more satisfied on a personal level. An example of this could be social security benefits.
