  1. Introduction
  Classroom is a place where students learn to gain knowledge and at the same time pupils learn their social skills when they involved in the learning activities. Some traditional ways in handling the inappropriate student behavior might work to some students and at the same time it may not appropriate to the rest of the students. The old methods that teachers use such as sending the students to principle or apply some kind of punishment are some of the traditional ways in respond to the inappropriate student’s behavior.
  Communication skills are alternative methods that can be used in handling the inappropriate student’s behavior in classroom. The three components of having of these skills are constructive assertiveness, emphatic responding and problem solving.


  1. Constructive assertiveness
  Constructive assertiveness also plays the role in handling the inappropriate behavior. Teacher in the dialogue did not labeling the students as bad, rude, annoying and so on. The teacher used the three aspects of constructive assertiveness. The first step is clearly state the problem or concern as a statement. We can see in both dialogues teacher stated the problem clearly, which was answering questions without waiting to be called on and didn’t clean their work areas after doing the activities. I am sure as teacher; body language is a part of communication when the teacher deals with the students. The third aspect is to ‘seal the deal’ and get the appropriate behavior. After discussions in both dialogues, teacher got the appropriate behavior that he or she expected.
