Introduction Nike Incorporation is the company I chose for my marketing project. Nike is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development and worldwide marketing and selling of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services. Nike main headquarters is located in Beaverton, Oregon. It all started with Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight who thought they could do a better job at designing and selling shoes to runners. The company was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports at the University of Oregon. The first retail Nike location was opened in 1966, in Santa Monica, California. Nike officially became a hit and went public in 1978. Advertising firm by Wieden/Kennedy made the famous phrase “Just Do It” in 1988. Nike is the world's leading supplier of athletic shoes and apparel and a major manufacturer of sports equipment, and could be served to customers worldwide. There are a variety of brands represented like Jordan, Converse, Nike Air Max, and so on. Me personally I choose the brand Jordan which is made by Nike. It serves me with several different options to decide on when making purchases of my choice. The main competitors are Reebok, Adidas, Under Armor, and Puma. The strengths of the competitors for Nike are the products are worn by top athletes to sponsor the product. Reebok is involved in the design and marketing of both athletic and non-athletic footwear and apparel, as well as other various fitness projects. Reebok’s market share is a distant third in the footwear industry at 11.2%. Customers wear the brand because it’s worn by players and not by the brand that sponsors Nike. Weakness is Nike is very price sensitive. Most the income comes from selling product to retailers, whom try to buy Nike at a low price. The brand is unique because it is a worldwide product, and worn by almost everyone. It also is the number one retailers
