Business Industry & Information I chose to do my e-commerce project on the global brand Nike, Nike is engaged in the design, development and worldwide marketing and selling of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services. They have been in business since January of 1964 and have since grown into a multinational organization that is recognized as one of the biggest providers of sporting goods. They are headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon and were established by an Oregon university track team member named Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman. Nike’s mission statement is, “To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world.” Bill Bowerman has expanded on this by saying that, “If you have a body, you are an athlete.” I have interpreted this statement as meaning Nike wants to inspire and bring change to every person in the world by offering a high end product that will provide you with the encouragement and the necessary equipment to achieve your athletic goals. Some of the goals Nike has set for themselves are to become more Sustainable. Nike says, “sustainability means being laser-focused on evolving our business model to deliver profitable growth while leveraging the efficiencies of lean manufacturing, minimizing our environmental impact and using the tools available to us to bring about positive change across our entire supply chain.” Put simply, they will demand disruptive innovation from business. Nike knows that achieving their long-term goals requires them to aim to achieve for meaningful short-term progress. Nike believes in three lessons that will help them to achieve their goals collaboration with other brands, transparency across the board, and sharing innovation. Nike believes that sharing their own innovation does not require sacrificing a competitive advantage, but will ultimately lead to innovations of the environment,
