Jamison Mullen Ms.Cramer Final reflective essay 5/24/12 It’s been a long hard year for all the students that took English 10. It’s good that people take English because it affects the way we talk, live, and function in day to day life. I can say personally English helped my writing tremendously. I could hardly write essays due to my bad grammar and the inability to punctuate my words and sentences I’ve come a long way. It was worth every question and worksheet to where I am now.
The cost of a projector and a desktop computer is estimated to be around $500.00; maybe less if you buy in bulk. This will not affect the finances of most colleges because colleges charge every student a fee for computer use every semester at Delgado its $60.00 and several classes already have these items in the class. Many teachers use their notes through applications like power point and Microsoft Word to teach their students as they lecture. Professors could use the electronic book in class; moreover, showing the pictures and information the students need through the projector. This allows students to have the option of bringing paperback books to school each day.
However we were provided with texts books and exercise books to write in for each lesson. We had to purchase our own uniform. Jumpers, ties and blazers were available to purchase from the reception in the school, for reasonable prices they stated. The uniform originally consisted of a shirt, grey jumper and grey trousers. However in 2009 this was changed to maroon blazer, shirt and black trousers or black skirt (which could be purchased from the reception in the school).
Why I Returned to School ENG121 Susan Turner-Conlon 08/05/2013 Why I Returned to School For some people returning to school is easy, for others it is one of the most difficult things that they can do. For me returning to school was something that I had to do. The way the economy is right now, the only way to get a decent paying job is to further your education. The money was also a big one. Good paying salary is something that was important me.
Like in elementary you only have open class and one teacher, but in middle school you have multiple classes and teachers. Middle school is a miniature step of high school. Children have to prepare for college and there goals after school. Some positive outcomes of a child attending school are 1. Going to class everyday on time.
Even if 5:00a.m. seems too early, I know that school is important for my future and also if I plan on doing that traveling while I’m in the military. I have bad days and I have good days, the bad days seem to outweigh the good days more than any but as long as I keep striving on harder than what I have been and those bad days will start looking up! My bad days are when I know my grades have dropped to where they shouldn’t be and I get mad at myself for letting them slip into that dark place of failing grades. My parents push me to be the best that I can be, which sometimes I don’t care what they are saying, don’t they understand that 9th grade is hard?
Erica Goldson Valedictorian Speech Response Erica Goldson brought up a very controversial and very interesting topic about our current education system in the US. She states that students are so focused at memorizing data and getting good grades, that they miss out on the whole idea of learning and being educated. I agree with her, students should be learning and absorbing the material, instead of memorizing for the next big test and just forgetting about it later on. Graduating seems like the top priority in students nowadays, and to me that is just upsetting. And the students who are very talented and are very motivated to learn and be driven in a non-academic subject seem to have a more negative image than the people who are driven by academics.
Listening to my inner coach has made me restore faith in my abilities, is supportive, and leaves a feel-good effect. Session 7 saw us identify areas of our own lives that may be causing stress, which for me is finding a balance between work and university. The belief behind this stress is that I must do well at uni, and give it priority to everything else, but I must also earn some money to survive, so as not to feel as though my partner is ‘carrying’ me. When I thought about the underlying issues of the stress, I realised that it was mainly due to the fact that my time management was lacking, so the plan that I developed to reduce this stress in my life was to prioritise my time better. This plan included: * Telling work that I could only do 2 days a week, being Mondays and Fridays * Getting a calendar to work out when all university assessments were due, so that I always have it out in front of me * Making a timetable of when I’m at school, work and fit home study time into the
Bearing in mind that this is the 21st century, there is nothing as important as education. The educational requirements in any field of employment require that a person’s level of education be rather high. Therefore, it is important that all the people in my community access high levels of education so that they can be able to cope with the changing world and in turn, cause my community to experience sustainable development. I have observed that youths from minority groups largely drop out of school before graduation and this has led to low graduation rates in our school districts. The low graduation rate is not good for my community because it will lead to increase in the degree of unemployment and this may trigger the rate of crime.
More and more computer based lessons have been given to high school students. Is modern technology culture changing so fast that teachers have to put traditional way of learning on the side to keep up with? More reading exercises and more exposure to complex texts will help high school students get ready for college, also helps colleges from getting burdened of high school students who are not ready for
