THE NEW NIGERIA
I have a dream “ that Nigeria will one day celebrate ten years of uninterrupted power supply in all her local states, that the whole of Nigeria state street will be internet connected and responsible and healthy leaders will emerge so that Niger-delta will cease to be national headache “ but the question is when and how.
Many times I sit to wonder why the name Nigeria does not usually attract something positive, even when there are a lot of positive things about our country, it seems to me that those positive things are usually not recorded or even when recorded are not remembered.
It still baffles me why a blessed country as Nigeria is usually viewed from the angle of poverty and not of her riches and wealth that flows heavily with milk and honey. I can’t just imagine why a great country that has produced prominent personalities such as prof. Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe could not be examined from the angle of the characters and success of those prominent individuals.
Guess what, I think I know the answer, the answer in that joke that I overheard a young man whisper to his friend while I was in the vehicle going to city scattered among the hills( Ibadan). During the blissful moment of that journey I overheard the young man quietly whispering to his friend jokingly that “a computer was has just been invented by the Korean scientist to discover the rate of corruption in every country across the globe. They have started using it for experiment starting with United States as the first site.
In 30 minutes about 20 cases of corruption was recorded in the United States before it was taken to the United Kingdom where 500 cases were reported within the same period of 30 minutes, it was so amazing to have only 25 cases recorded in Spain within a period of 20 minutes. However as the report travels gradually towards the heart of Africa, in Ghana 6,000 cases were record in just 10 minutes and 20,000 in Uganda in less than 10 minutes.
