Subject: Negative effect of YouTube on society (Uploading sub-judicial video in YouTube) Uploading sub-judicial video in YouTube An 18 year old girl was gang-raped in Bangladesh (BD) in July 2011. The local police station was duly informed with details of the occurrence in the form of F.I.R. (First Information Report). The victim was examined by a doctor as per standard procedure and police lodged case with the appropriate court under “Women and children repression prevention act 2000 Bangladesh”, as amended in 2003. The corrupt police official (Officer In-charge or Officer Commanding - O/C) possibly got bribed and granted interview in a third rated TV channel in BD where they have shown all the pages of the FIR where the mobile phone numbers of the guardian and address of the victim was clearly visible. But the said O/C or the TV commentator or reporter didn't bother to say anything about the identities or details of the three perpetrators. This is against the law of the land where the victims name and other details must not be reported in any manner, but the law allows the perpetrators details to be shown or printed. The O/C of the police station allowed the TV reporter to take his interview while he was in his office and then upload their 'report' in YouTube. We sent several request to YouTube on getting information from our friends and relatives and sent several emails to YouTube to delete the said interview video where the O/C was blaming the victim and did not utter a single word against the 3-accused. Important thing to note here is that, the above mentioned Case has been under trial in a special-court constituted for dealing with such offences where on the complaint was lodged by the Investigating Officer (police) under the same O/C and any statement from the police official to influence the case is “subjudiced” in the eyes of law, and a criminal
