Tiffany Chambers “Entertainment Means Profit For Nederlander Concerts” 1. Nederlander Concerts competes for audiences and with other concert arenas and promoters. Do you think it also competes for those audiences with TV, movies, CDs, DVDs, streaming video, and sports events? I think that at some point if does compete for the attention of TV, movies, CDs, DVDs, streaming video, and sports even audiences. I think this is because a lot of concerts are televised (most through pay-per view), and so this means they can be seen on TV. Because the concerts can be televised they can be recorded live and produced into a live taping and sold on DVD for consumers to purchase. Concerts are also a good way to promote a singer or band’s CD, making the sells higher if fans liked or enjoyed the concert. Some sites allow you to stream videos of concerts as well as TV shows, and sports events. So, yes, concerts would be competing with them as well. Sports events are a huge thing as well as concerts. So if there was a major sporting event going on at the same time as a concert and there are fans that like both the event and concert, they would have to ultimately decide which to attend making this a competition. So, yes, these are competitions for the concert industry. 2. How many different groups can you think of whose needs Nederlanders Concerts must satisfy to remain a successful business? I can think of a few groups whose needs must be satisfied by Nederlander Concerts in order for them to be successful. The first would be the band and the band’s manager. The band and its manager would need to be happy with the size of venue and possible profit (if sold out). Following them would be the fans. They would need to be satisfied overall with the venue, price, and performance. 3. Give an example showing how Nederlander Concerts uses each of the four factors
