INTRODUCTION On-the Job- Training is one way by which the students are given an opportunity to apply the theories and principles that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to apply the knowledge and skills by performing in actual work settings. For the students, an OJT or internship program provides chances to go through the actual procedures of a specific job using the real tools and equipment. As a result, the student trainee learned more about his chosen field and practice what he learned from school. Colleges and universities require their students to undergo training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. OJT program also benefits the companies who are accepting trainees. Activities Astoria Plaza Food and Beverage Department - Banquet Service On June 15, 2013, the Bachelor of Hotel and Restaurant Management Students arrived at Astoria Plaza for their internship. The first day of internship was allotted for the orientation of the trainees in which their duties and responsibilities, standard operating procedures, do’s and don’ts, grooming and areas of deployment were discussed. On the next day, Ms. Amy – Food and Beverage Junior oriented us, the trainee as regards the training schedule. The trainee was assigned in the office of Mr. Zoilo and Ms. Janine. He was joined by other trainees from school in Isabela. In the office department, the trainee was taught on how to do electrical works like sorting of papers, photocopying and assisting other trainees. In picking up dry service they have to count the total no. of clothes, the room no. and guest name and signature for verifications. We have to detach the form surely for the secure of their laundry. It was important to know the instruction or directions in applying chemicals. Being assigned in Public Area is not easy. You have to be more flexible all times. When he was assigned in the public area he was too hurried. He cleaned the annex, the old building and in the white Café and also the Pool. The trainee learned the proper way for mopping – S way. In cleaning in the Annex have start in the highest floor down to ground floor and also same to the old building. (See Appendix L5) In White Café it was very important to maintain the cleanliness.
