My view on billionaire’s emigration Recent research shows that nearly 60% of China’s super rich are either considering emigration through investment overseas or had already completed the process. As to why wealthy people want to leave China, mostly for the United States and Canada, the reasons given often are that they want their children to have access to better education overseas, concerns about the security of their assets on the mainland and better living conditions. Evidently,the fact that the wealthiest people of China want to leave their country means that they catch or perceive problems in the society. Their departure is simultaneously accompanied by a great loss for China both in terms of talents and assets. Apart from the immediate loss of national wealth, massive emigration will no doubt also shake the public’s confidence in the future prospects for China’s domestic development. In general, unless their riches were amassed by unlawful means, the rich are the economic elite of a country. The billionaire’s emigraion influence the perception of the mediocre. When the rich anchor their offspring’s education and their retirement on other countries, it indicates their pessimistic view on the country’s education and social security. When people elude a country just to protact their possessions, it further proves that their inconfidence in the country’s rule of law. In my view, the fact of the rich imigtating is sad and even worthy of the deeper attention of the government, cause out of the three main reasons, none of them is about personal happiness but all about the unsafety of social system, Most Chinese people do not have the means to leave, but the rich do and, if the government wants to halt the stampede out of the country by some of its most talented and wealthiest citizens, it will have to respond to their demands.
