Angela Falkner October 16, 2010 Descriptive Essay Re-Write Purpose: To describe my vacation Audience: General My memories of Asbury Park, New Jersey My favorite vacation spot is Asbury Park. It is one of many beach towns located on the Jersey shore. It has much to offer like a sprawling board walk, a beach that is breath taking, and a spectacular view of the ocean. Every summer was spent on the Jersey shore. I would visit my grandparents, and they would make it a point to take me to Asbury Park. One particular summer, I spent an entire day in Asbury on the boardwalk, enjoying the beach, and the most delicious food. The board walk extended for many city blocks, and I headed to the upper end to ride the amusement rides. The best ride was the roller coaster, which seemed to reach out and touch the ocean. This ride was rapid, curvy, and more thrilling at night. The Ferris wheel was relaxing to ride after the roller coaster. The haunted house offered its share of thrills and screams at every corner. The house was decked out with ghouls, bats, mummies, and dead trees. When I exited the house, I was covered with goose bumps. My next stop was the specialty shops, which had an array of home made jewelry, shark tooth necklaces, and nurse sharks sealed in glass containers. The food stands offered salt water taffy that just melted in my mouth. The juicy red strawberries drenched in deep dark chocolate were a sinful treat, and the snow cones dripping with blue syrup were tantalizing to the taste buds. As I strolled down to the lower end of the pathway, the pigeons devoured every french fry dropped on the wooden planks. The birds were not fazed by the creaking boards beneath them. When I reached the danced hall, the music was deafening, the hotel was buzzing with guests, and the casino was alive with coins cascading down from the slot machines.
