Relationships take time to become established, because they are based on a growing understanding of one another. Effective communication helps children and young people develop confidence, feelings of self-worth and positive relationships with others. Children from poorer backgrounds and or specific ethnic and social groups are more likely to underachieve and this can sometimes lead to problems at school and exclusion. Major life events such as bereavement, family breakdown or abuse can cause emotional and behavioural problems. 2.2 Any form of prejudice and discrimination can have a severe negative effect throughout a person’s life. Being undervalued by peers can make a person feel isolated and lonely. A child’s confidence and self esteem will become less and less the more they are discriminated against. They will start not wanting to be involved in activities, stop putting their hand up to ask questions. This in turn will affect their learning and ability to interact.
A resilient child loves well, plays well, works well and expects well, of which allows them to flourish in life despite circumstances. If children are resilient they will be healthier, happier and live a more fulfilling life, whilst also less likely to develop emotional problems such as depression and anxiety. The good news is we can assist children in becoming more resilient. It is very important being resilient yourself, don’t pretend not to have problems but rather show that you’re able to cope and still get on with enjoying life. Children need to be treated as individual’s also remembering good communication of your concern and interest is essential to the child, also of importance is being honest about how you feel of which will show children that expressing your emotions is ok.

TDA 3.1 Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults It is immensely important that we develop positive relationships with children, young people and adults and this begins with the manner with which we approach and respond to them. Having positive relationships means we are more than likely to communicate information well to parents and other visitors to the school environment and this will gain their trust and in turn will be beneficial to the pupils. The more positively we deal with this will, in turn, mean that we end up with better relationships and should communications not be clear or break down, this is when misinterpretations become evident and lead to relationships deteriorating. When individuals feel comfortable in our company they are more likely to communicate effectively with us and this is paramount in relationship building. When a student is not trying to do well in a subject, or in school altogether, there is nothing anyone around them can do to change that; it must be the student’s desire and decision to turn things around, and do the best they can. There are some cases when teachers willing allow a student to fail a class. The teacher chooses not to follow-up with the student, to ensure they understand the material and attain the grades necessary to pass the class. The majority of the students who are falling behind will not even talk to the teacher about their problem. This can be a result of laziness or even shame.
1. What are the most likely reasons that children in middle school are absent or tardy? In my opinion, chilldren in middle shool can be absent for the several reasons. Firstly, they can be not disciplined enough and don't take seriously their school responsibilities. Secondly, some kids could be lacking motivation for the study and thus would neglect their opportunity for learning and school rules at the same time.
