Stormy Williams Professor Niles ENC 110 20 April 2012 Timed Writing #4 My Student Behavior In order to be a successful student, the student must complete assignments on time, and he or she must study hard and have self-discipline. Being dedicated and self-disciplined in school influences the end result during terms, most of the time it is always a good result. Many of the students attending college who fail terms fail because of their jobs or economic reasons. Unfortunately, this term I have had many obstacles that have kept me from being a successful student. I am a mother of three small siblings and sometimes it makes it very difficult for me to put forth the effort I need to become a better student. In college there are many behaviors that can easily affect the failure or success of a college student. Three things about my behavior as a student that have contributed to my failure this term are procrastination, lack of study time, and comprehension. To begin with, as a student I procrastinate a lot. Being a procrastinator has contributed to my failure this term because, I end up rushing through assignments in order to complete them. Procrastination forces the students to work under pressure and that can cause them to ignore small mistakes that can affect the ending result of their assignments. For example, for my Education of Diversity class: EDF 2085, I had a diversity of culture presentation due on Monday but, I did not complete the assignment until Sunday night. Going over the diversity presentation assignment at the last minute caused me to receive a lower grade. Also, in some of my other classes I tend to do my homework five minutes before class begins; doing my homework in a hurry and at the last minute causes me to get a low grade on the assignment and get reprimanded by the professors.
