My Sister: The Fighter My sister, Mirella, was born a year after I was. For many years, we were dressed alike, feed the same food, and we were the closest of playmates. People often asked us if we were twins and we loved to let them think so. As we grew up, our relationship changed. Our character and personality differences tore us apart, and even when we shared the same bedroom, we could stayed for weeks with out talking to each other. Over the years, we became best friends again and our friendship and bond grew stronger. My sister is a beautiful woman. Her soft, curly hair is black as ebony, and it is usually tied in a pony tail to keep it from falling in her face. She has small eyes and a wide nose that she inherited from my grandmother, but she also has these freckles in her cheeks that give her a nice and interesting look. Her skin is as pale as snow, and she always smell like her favorite perfume: lavender and roses. Because of her job, she has to wear formal clothes everyday, and she likes bright colored clothes. She loves to wear jeans and t-shirts too. My sister has remarkable character; she is a caring, loving, strong, smart, patient woman. Besides all these characteristics my sister is a fighter. I admire her courage and strength. She is a fighter because she has battled for her daughter, for her career; she doesn’t give up. In July of 1999, after my sister turned 20 years old, we learned that she was pregnant with my niece. She had a long time boyfriend, but he didn’t want to commit to a marriage. My sister’s pregnancy brought a lot of commotion in my family, but she stood strong, and she taught all a lesson of love and courage. My sister was on her junior year of her Engineering career. It would had been easy for her to quit school and stay home to raise her child, but she kept going to school until the very last day before she gave birth
