The Journal of Nursing Education states, “researchers found the concepts of caring and nurturance were identified as high motivators for choosing nursing” (Williams, Wertenberger, Hames, Gushuliak, 1997). At that time, I was working back office at a Urology office and was going to school. I decided one day that to be able to provide for my daughter if something were to happen between my husband and I that I could always support us. Therefore, my journey began. A Journey Amongst Friends I was fortunate enough to go to nursing school with my best friend Harley.
At this Center the patients are Cancer related. As I spend more time as an intern at this Center I was inspired by Dr. Howard Bruckner work how he help and gave hope to many of these people, had myself raise some questions on the concepts and wonder what it would be like to be a part of the Bruckner Oncology team or somewhat relate to this field. I believe that Medical Assistant program classes at ASA College help gave me an opportunity to pursue my passion for helping those with medical problems and let me feel at ease on the first hand training at the Center of Bruckner Oncology. At the Bruckner Oncology Center I learn to Answering phones and making appointments ordering supplies, greeting patients, pulling and filing patient charts, calling in or faxing prescriptions, converting charts to electronic charting. Hopefully I can take these skills I learn and better myself in life.

This amount of schooling is necessary because they need to be reliable and trustworthy for their patients. The most important skills out of the many needed in this career are communication and multitasking. The hospital had a hard time retaining employees and one motive for the class was helping new nurses feel more comfortable and helping us have meaningful, fulfilling employment. In this class we learned about a lot of things but we learned about Julia Brenner’s theory and it has always since stayed with me. I now work in the recovery area of a much larger hospital and have worked in several departments. I have gained a lot of great experience and I have seen my growth described by Brenner’s model. Most importantly though, is probably the fact that I borrowed ideas from that class and from Brenner’s model and have instituted parts into the orientation of new staff-members within my current department.

‘Our trust has achieved a culture that allows all staff to flourish’ In the beginning of this article it grabs my attention because I have worked with nurses in my career in the military as a hospital corpsman. I also feel this article relates to any job out in the society today that battles the same issues. As stated in the article, “According to the survey by Nursing Standard to mark Black History Month suggests that barriers still hinder some BME staff.” To me this shows the diversity they are trying to overcome and adapt to these barriers or obstacles. I see they are inspired to move on and try to better themselves. I also agree with the respondents response which was they all agreed there should be training or a correspondence “to care
