His mom was always cautious every year and tie a rope around Wolf’s wrist and then would let him go into the water, he hated this! Go, go said dad, always encouraging him to do things, especially many different ways to protect himself. Fred liked going to the auto races and going to his dads bowling club. His dad taught him to hold on to things for a long time, and showed him what things do and how they work. He enjoyed riding over to the next town called Zell an der Mosel with his dad on bikes to attend synagogue services.

Another day comes, and just like any other mid-afternoon My sister who was thirteen at the time, her friend who was also thirteen, my brother who was twelve, two cousins who were seven and five, and I who was eight all trail out of the house going to go see if anything exciting is happening at the dirt hills. We decided to take a little detour to go see what was new around the neighborhood. If any new houses were going in, because that usually meant more kids to join us at the spot
Austin Olson 1301.187 Professor CJ Aravelo 27 August 2008 Descriptive Essay Pop Warner It was a blistering hot Saturday afternoon at the Birkelbach Memorial Stadium in beautiful Georgetown, Texas. It was my little brother Logan’s first football game of the Pop Warner season. The game was Georgetown eagles versus West Austin. Watching my little brother play the game is going to be great; but I could not wait for it to be over so I could go home and watch college football. I had just pulled up and stepped out of my truck when I heard the whistle for the kickoff.
We rode on our casual routes throughout our neighborhood and the surrounding ones, eventually coming to a rest at our neighborhood pool. As both of us knew the day was young and our routine roads literally didn’t excite us anymore we came to the conclusion of facing the unthinkable: Harry Man Road. Going on this dangerous road with nothing but curiosity and stupidity we prepared ourselves for the pursuit.
Wildcat Stadium is the place to be on Friday nights, thousands of people cramming into a huge stadium looking over a 120 yd. by 53 yd. rectangle covered in artificial turf. Ever since I was little I dreamed of being the starting quarterback for the Calallen Wildcats. Playing football in Pop Warner and in middle school were jus stepping-stones to what I wanted to accomplish in high school.
We put our scuba gear on, and begin the hunt to the river’s floor, to pick up left behind treasures. The water was a bit muggy underneath, all you see was dirt on the ground, tubers hands and legs just floating around, coins laying, a few broken watches, and a bunch of trash. We actually didn’t find treasure, but the experience was fun. I took advantage of everything that I got to do that day. Swimming in the water, sunbathing, eating juicy burgers straight from the grill, tubing down the river, scuba diving to find lost treasure, and enjoying the beautiful scenery the river offers.
My birthday was Saturday August 8, which was also my first football scrimmage against Cordova High School. The scrimmage had been for three teams, Rosemont, Cordova and Capital, and my teammates and I were the underdogs of the whole thing. When we got to Cordova it seemed as though it was going to be a routine scrimmage, get on the field and kick some butt, but fate had other plans. Our team started off slow in warm ups, taking wrong moves and such, but we started to pull it together after about thirty minutes. When we entered the stadium to play we were a little early so we got some water and started getting each other excited to play.
The first year you can try out to play for the high school team. I always knew I wanted to play for the high school, so when tryouts began I was extremely nervous. My nerves were magnified by the fact that I did not know a single person there. On the first day of practice, we practiced throwing and hitting so that the coaches could make first round cuts. I remember walking up to the bulletin board after that first day with my hands shaking.
My height has always been something that’s set me apart; it’s helped define me. It’s just that as long as I can remember, I haven’t liked the definition very much. Every Sunday in grade school my dad and I would watch ESPN Primetime Football. Playing with friends at home, I always imagined the booming ESPN voice of Chris Berman giving the play-by-play of our street football games. But no matter how well I performed at home with friends, during school recess the stigma of “short kid” stuck with me while choosing teams.
