The sound of a tugboat tugging down the river, the sight of ski boats racing down the river. The summer breeze warm upon my face, blowing away my hair along with the sweet smell of honeysuckles create a place called Perryville, Tennessee. Lush green hills surround this town and am pretty sure where they begin and where they end. The beauty of this place cannot be compared to anywhere else I have been. The spaces, all strategically placed for children to roam free and experience good times. This small community offered many adventures not soon to be forgotten. The sun, sand piles and riverbanks makes Perryville unlike any other place. Most of the parents in the community worked and left their children to run barefoot and free, just like in a playground. The place I come from is like a playground with no supervision. As my sister and I ventured down Pentecostal Hill, we could see the neighborhood kids gathered at Young’s store pondering the new adventures of the day. Young’s store was where the kids and retirees gathered for the daily gossip over a coke and candy bar. It was like a ritual for all the kids to meet there every morning. From there, we would then come up with a plan of the day’s activities, where we would go, what we would do and what new places we would discover. Our parents were already at work and, therefore, we had all the time in the world. As for the retirees, there was nothing better to do and gathering and sharing stories of their youth seemed like a good idea. From Young’s store, we would then venture down to Ms. Lockey’s yard for a quick game of football with the neighborhood kids usually, numbering around fifteen to twenty. After the football game, we would then journey across the road to Tinker’s Sand & Gravel pit to climb the massive sand piles on our three wheelers. Our parents constantly warned us against going to climb the sand piles,
